Nuclear War?
Re: Nuclear War?
Seedbanks of course do exist, but c'mon, they need sunlight to grow. They aint gonna grow during a nuclear winter. Unless you can somehow simulate sunlight - highly improbable after a nuclear exchange.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 1:59 am There are seed banks that can restart agriculture. And DNA banks to restart livestock.
Same for DNA banks. Every living thing on earth depends on sunlight. During a nuclear winter, there would be no-where near enough sunlight to sustain enough livestock, even to feed the few humans that were still alive. And even if there were, there would be no law and order to stop people simply coming and stealing your livestock.
These things would be useless to us as a species until we can start to use sunlight as a resource, or we can somehow use artificial sunlight, which as I said, would be next to impossible after a nuclear exchange.
It reminds me a very good philosophical question I once heard - if a witch came to earth and removed every single piece of technology we had ever came up with, how long would it take for us to create another iPhone?
Months, years, decades?
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

Indeed my point.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 1:59 am Depends on the level of ‘nuclear war’. Limited exchanges or every location plastered many times over? From Hiroshima to Chernobyl to Fukushima, radiation levels drop within a few weeks to months around ground zero. ‘Nuclear winter’ is projected to last 25 years, assuming hundreds of firestorms caused by many nuclear exchanges.
Currently atmospheric soot dissipates in about two months.
So it boils down to how much? And how long?

Your last sentence is questionable though - will mankind live to use the seed and DNA banks?

And, if YOU are the only human to survive, will you know where these seed and DNA banks are and how to use them?violet wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 2:38 amIndeed my point.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 1:59 am Depends on the level of ‘nuclear war’. My thoughts in recent years on nuclear holocaust have been of the rich Soros' and Rothschilds, etc. scurrying to their bunkers while locking us ordinary folks out to die. Then years later these rich elites come out only to discover that they forgot to save some people to do the menial tasks as they haven't a clue how to grow their own food, catch fish, cook, etc.

How long do you think you'd last in your bunker? I know you are into that prepper thing.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 1:59 am Depends on the level of ‘nuclear war’. Silence, exile, and cunning.
