Stay home video from the UK government.
Across the country, someone is admitted every 30 seconds with the virus, and a quarter of those are under the age of 55. There are currently over 38,000 beds taken up in England by patients with Covid-19.

The latest data shows the UK has seen the highest number of deaths recorded from Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, with over 1,000 people dying per day for the last 10 days.

The health and social care secretary, Matt Hancock, said:

The NHS is under intense pressure. They are relying on all of us to follow the rules. The message couldn’t be clearer - stay at home.

Chris Whitty, the chief medical officer for England, said:

The impact of the current wave is still putting significant pressure on hospitals across the country and many patients are very sick. Vaccines give clear hope for the future, but for now we must all continue to play our part in protecting the NHS and saving lives.

BREXIT - what's next ?

Brexit will ultimately lead to Europe trying to lure Britain's golden goose to the continent: The City of London, which hosts many of the world's biggest banks.

British Politians that supported Brexit from day one in my opinion only had one single Industry on their Agenda. The GOLDEN GOOSE - Financial Industry. By removing Britain from the checks-and-balances of the EU Britain could go back to the days when their mighty Ships pirated the Carribean Sea and other parts of the World in order to accumulate the stolen wealth for the Good of the Country. Britian could become the new Safe Haven for Money from unaccounted sources and thereby mirror other island nations like British Virgin-,Cayman-,Bahama Islands

Since Money in the Mind of pro-Brexit British Politians was worth more than anything else (fishing Industry, Northern Island, Scotland and Wales) or the Supermarket Shelves in Britain a small gang of politians wrecked the boat and now face the consequences. They won't starve, they got the cash. But everyone else will feel the pinch. Time to storm the British Parliament ? I hope NOT !!

Move to EU to avoid Brexit costs, firms told
Exporters advised by Department for International Trade officials to form EU-based companies to circumvent border issues

British businesses that export to the continent are being encouraged by government trade advisers to set up separate companies inside the EU in order to get around extra charges, paperwork and taxes resulting from Brexit, the Observer can reveal.

In an extraordinary twist to the Brexit saga, UK small businesses are being told by advisers working for the Department for International Trade (DIT) that the best way to circumvent border issues and VAT problems that have been piling up since 1 January is to register new firms within the EU single market, from where they can distribute their goods far more freely.

The heads of two UK businesses that have been beset by Brexit-related problems have told the Observer that, following advice from experts at the Department for International Trade, they have already decided to register new companies in the EU in the next few weeks, and they knew of many others in similar positions. Other companies have also said they too were advised by government officials to register operations in the EU but had not yet made decisions.

Andrew Moss, who runs Horizon Retail Marketing Solutions, based in Ely, Cambridgeshire, which sells packaging and point-of-sale marketing displays in the UK and to EU customers, is registering a European company Horizon Europe in the Netherlands in the next few weeks, on the advice of a senior government adviser.

This will mean laying off a small number of staff here and taking on people in the Netherlands.

Referring to discussions with a senior DIT adviser on trade, Moss said: “This guy talked complete sense. What I said to him was, have I got another choice [other than to set up a company abroad]? He confirmed that he couldn’t see another way. He told me that what I was thinking of doing was the right thing, that he could see no other option. He did not see this as a teething problem. He said he had to be careful what he said, but he was very clear.”

Moss said it was now clear that Brexit was not about winning back control from the EU but investing in it to survive.

Geoffrey Betts, managing director of Stewart Superior Ltd, a company in Marlow, Bucks, which sells office supplies to UK and continental customers, said he had also decided to set up a company in the Netherlands for the same reasons.

He had also spoken to an official at the Department for International Trade before making his decision and received the same advice. “When the government said it had secured free trade, it was obvious it was nothing of the sort,” said Betts. VAT issues, new charges on moving goods and more bureaucracy all added up to an “administrative nightmare”, he said.

By moving operations into the EU and shipping out large consignments from the UK to their new European operations, the businesses can not only avoid cross-border delays and costs on every single small consignment they send, but can also defuse VAT problems that are currently hitting them and their European customers hard.

The spokesperson from the Department for International Trade said: “This is not government policy, the Cabinet Office have issued clear guidance, available at gov.uk/transition, and we encourage all businesses to follow that guidance. We are ensuring all officials are properly conveying this information.”

Yesterday, as the impact of leaving the single market and customs union on 1 January became ever more clear, the Financial Times reported that the cost of a £12 bottle of wine in UK shops could rise by up to £1.50 a bottle because of the extra bureaucracy and charges affecting imports.

In a further blow to the government’s idea of “global Britain” after Brexit, the chances of signing a swift UK/US trade deal also appeared to be ebbing away after President Joe Biden’s nominee for Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen, made clear the president had other more pressing domestic economic priorities than international trade deals.

Rachel Reeves, shadow chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and shadow minister for the Cabinet Office, said: “Once again we see this government’s sheer incompetence and lack of planning holding British businesses back and slowing our economic recovery.

“They’ve got to get a grip on this now and stop leaving our businesses out in the cold.”

The Guardian, part of the woke Brussels Biased Co!

I dont trust any politicians , never have , never will!. Thanks to Treason May, we'll be paying into the EU for many years!
The Express, , not a great example, but probably just less biased and much less left wing than the Guardian.

Scottish PM plans SCOTXIT from BREXIT
The Scottish majority voted REMAIN in the EU while BRITAIN as a whole voted to LEAVE. Now that the consequences become more aparent by the day Scotland’s first minister, Nicola Sturgeon said on Sunday she was hoping a strong performance by her Scottish National Party (SNP) in an election in May would give her the mandate to hold a second referendum.
Not quite that far is Northern Island or Wales where sentiments against BREXIT and it's devastating consequences are similar to that of Scotland.

UK could become ‘failed state’ without reform, former PM warns

Brexit and the COVID-19 crisis have weakened the ties that bind England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, says ex-Labour PM Gordon Brown.

25 Jan 2021

Unless the United Kingdom is fundamentally reformed, it could swiftly become a failed state because of rising concerns that the country is governed by a London-centric elite acting in its own interest, former Prime Minister Gordon Brown says.

“I believe the choice is now between a reformed state and a failed state,” Brown wrote in the Daily Telegraph newspaper on Sunday. “It is indeed Scotland where dissatisfaction is so deep that it threatens the end of the United Kingdom.”UK could become ‘failed state’ without reform, former PM warns

UK Covid deaths surpass Great Plague, Aids pandemic and every terror attack and war since 1945 combined

Latest milestone is also more than double the death toll from the Blitz during Second World War
Anthony Cuthbertson

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the UK has surpassed the combined death toll of the Great Plague, the Aids pandemic and every single terror attack and war since 1945.

The UK recorded a further 1,631 deaths from coronavirus on Tuesday, taking the official tally above 100,000.

The actual number is expected to be much higher when all excess deaths since the pandemic began are taken into consideration.

The estimated fatalities from the Great Plague of 1665-66, the Aids epidemic and every terror attack and war of the last 75 years that the UK has been involved in totals 99,500.

The grim milestone is also more than twice as many people who died during the Blitz during the Second World War, and represents the highest death toll in Europe.

Only the US, Brazil, India and Mexico have recorded more Covid-19 deaths than the UK, though all four countries have significantly higher populations.

As recently as last week, the UK had the highest death rate in the world, according to figures compiled by University of Oxford-based research platform Our World in Data.

Portugal has since overtaken the UK, however the UK death rate remains staggeringly high with an average of more than 18 people in every thousand dying from Covid-19 every day over the last week.

Chris Hopson, the chief executive of NHS Providers, described the latest tally as a “tragedy” and warned that it could continue to get worse.

“This is a dreadful milestone to have reached and behind each death will be a story of sorrow and grief,” he said.

“We won’t know the true impact of Covid-19 for a long time to come because of its long-term effects. But, as well as the high death rate, it’s particularly concerning that this virus has widened health inequalities and affected black, Asian and minority ethnic communities disproportionately.

“Sadly, the virus has the potential to destroy many more lives. This is why we must all remain vigilant and meticulously follow the rules restricting social contact, however onerous they may seem.”

Statistician David Spiegelhalter from the University of Cambridge noted that the official government figures only count deaths of people who tested positive in the last 28 days, and that data from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) suggests the 100,000 figure was passed earlier this month.

“The more accurate ONS data show that over 100,000 people in the UK had already died with Covid on their death certificate by 7 January, nearly three weeks ago,” Professor Spiegelhalter said.

“This rose to 108,000 people by 15 January, and the total now will be nearly 120,000.”
