New Zealand to hold cannabis referendum
New Zealand to hold cannabis referendum within three years
20 October 2017
New Zealand will hold a referendum on legalising the recreational use of cannabis in the next three years, its prime minister-elect has pledged.
She reiterated her support for a referendum on legalising personal cannabis use, saying she had "always been very open" about her opposition to criminalisation.
"On the flip side," she added, "I also have concerns around young people accessing a product which can clearly do harm and damage to them."
She said she wanted to hear New Zealanders' views and would consider carefully the wording of any referendum question.

Re: New Zealand to hold cannabis referendum
Shouldn't it be called a reeferendum?
Re: New Zealand to hold cannabis referendum
I'm all for decriminalisation so people are not convicted for having pot, but smoke is smoke and if the policy of banning tobacco is eventually enforced, then there can be no justification to change legislation to allow the smoking of cannabis.

Hi Khartoum
Should the people vote in favour, will it include all type of cannabis substances do you know ?. I have cancer, and am looking for a particular type of Hemp Oil, but can't find it legally, if I could get it in New Zealand this would be a great help to me.

Tonics, is this referendum timely enough for your current condition?

As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

Hi taarbarang
The head Oncologist at the hospital, has estimated I have 18 months left with my current cancer condition. So I doubt the New Zealand referendum would be any good to me.

Re: New Zealand to hold cannabis referendum
Hi Tonika, the referendum will be for recreational use. There are moves afoot to allow medical cannabis more accessible, e.g. Pharmactonika wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2017 3:03 pm Hi Khartoum

Re: New Zealand to hold cannabis referendum
It will be legal in Canada very soon, many states in Us, holland,.
Within 5 years i put half of Us states and another 10-15 countries.
This has been a long time coming. Criminalization of pot has already ruined to many lives and cost goverments fighting an unwinable war billions of $$$
As to banning tobacco. Where??? Its only banned to smoke in public places amd at work,.
They will never ban tobacco. The tobacco companies lobbiests would never let it pass in america
Cant see them allowing dope smoking inside either.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
