This is why you'll often find that the angriest people, when it comes to this sort of thing, are other LGBTQ people. As for using the label "queer", it's a bit like the 'N' word. Yes, it's often used by the LGBTQ community themselves, much like the 'N' word is used amongst black people, but when it's used by others, it's more often than not used in a homophobic way.
