Marijuana’s Long Term Effects On The Brain Finally Revealed

Post by Samouth »

With a drug war against marijuana still raging in more countries than not, the question of how long-term marijuana use effects the human brain is a pivotal question in its legalization. Although alcohol remains legal despite heaps of evidence to the dangers of long-term use, the fight to make marijuana available both with regard to its medical properties (especially in selectively killing cancer cells) and non-medical uses has frequently hinged on the various claims made about marijuana’s effects on the recreational user.

Luckily, the debate can finally move out from the realm of opinion into scientific evidence as researchers from the University of Texas just published their research into the long-term effects of marijuana use on the brain in PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences).

Is smoking pot really benefit your health? If so I am thinking to try it? Lol

Samouth do you know any other Khmer's that smoke?

The study you linked is just more evidence that countries should legalize it. The government here could just restrict licenses to only those who are already making money off the illegal trade in cannabis. The UN will hopefully do something about it in the upcoming special session of the General Assembly. Maybe they'll see that the US is going to make bucket loads of tax revenue, from cannabis sales that are illegal under UN, and agitate to loosen the laws that prevent developing countries from legalizing cannabis.

I actually don't know anyone who smoke weed. i have seen weed for the first time when i met a few backpackers when i was on a solo trip. Almost every of them smoked weed and seemed like they enjoyed it so bad. However, smoking and selling weed is illegal here in Cambodia, but the island i visited was the paradise of weed smokers. i was so interested and wanted to try it after i read this article.

if booze is legal, then there is zero reason why cannabis shouldn't be legalized as well...

there is no difference, except, that booze is millions of times more hazardous for health, causes more traffic accidents, makes depenend faster and worse.

to legalize booze but not cannabis is inconsistent.
