Found hanging at his home this morning...
been to see them a few times, and was lucky enough to see them play "The Hybrid Theory" in full from start to finishLinkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington has died aged 41, LA County Coroner says.
The coroner said Bennington apparently hanged himself. His body was found at a private home in the county at 09:00 local time (17:00 GMT) on Thursday.
Bennington was said to be close to Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell, who took his own life in May.
Formed in 1996, Linkin Park have sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and won two Grammy Awards.
The band had a string of hits including Faint, In The End and Crawling, and collaborated with the rapper Jay-Z.
The album Meteora topped the Billboard 200 chart in 2003 and is regarded as one of the biggest indie rock records of all time.
For a generation growing up in the early 2000s, it would have been hard not to find someone who didn't own a copy of the band's debut album Hybrid Theory.
It's sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and remains one of the biggest selling albums released since the start of the millennium.
Linkin Park's successful trick was to fuse elements of metal and rock with rap and hip-hop to shape the nu-metal genre on songs such as Crawling, In The End and Numb.
Arguably their biggest asset was Chester's powerhouse voice. He had a huge, raspy vocal which suited their stadium-filling, singalong anthems.
Whilst his vocal persona could be described as angry and harsh, in person he was warm, articulate and funny.
The band's most recent album, One More Light, saw a different direction as they worked with prolific pop songwriters Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter - and collaborated with UK grime artist Stormzy.
He leaves a wife, and six children from two marriages.
The singer is said to have struggled for years with alcohol and drug abuse, and has talked in the past about contemplating suicide as a result of being a victim of abuse as a child.

The voice of a generation.
I guess in the end, it did matter.

Chris Cornell's birthday today in the US. Depression doesn't mess around.
Couldn't stand Linkin Park music, but can't deny the impact they had.

Fond memories of driving round the Australian outback in a shitty Toyota estate blasting out Hybrid Theory...also got me through a lot of gym sessions when I couldn't be arsed. RIP

Shame, feel for his family.
I didn't take to them at first liking them to an Alice in Chains rip, but some of their songs stand out, surprised I never caught them live.
Gen-X is taking a beating. Guess we need to add depression to Sex, Drugs, and Rock'n Roll.

theyre a completely different Genre?! hahaha
they are Nu-Metal and came out when it was in its Peak in year 2000 and with them being more radio friendly than other Nu-Metal bands really took off and became one of the biggest Bands of that generation
maybe youre getting mixed up with Stone Temple Pilots as Chester Bennington has also fronted them, they have a more AiC sound?
this is Linkin Park
seen AiC a few times

I thought(at the time, still think) Chester's voice was very similiar to Layne Staley, a lot of that Nu metal wasn't much different and very influenced by those "grunge" bands(I'd say Korn and Slipknot are more metal influenced), at the time every local band was adding a rapper or DJ to their line up. I think now I can see it as their own thing.Jamie_Lambo wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 9:01 pmAlice in Chains? Linkin Park?Seasquatch wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 7:55 am Shame, feel for his family.

As a musician I can be pretty hard on bands first time I listened to them back in the day, I remember seeing Alice and Chains on that Facelift album, they were the opening act for the Clash of the Titans tour before Anthrax, Megadeath and Slayer, no one had heard of them at that point and I remember thinking what a dumb fucking name for a band, but they earned my respect that night, knowing they should not be on that tour - Staley was on stage telling the crowd that if they don't like their music everyone could - BLOOOOOOOW ME in the mic, he said it 20 times, I thought that took balls as Metal fans can be particularly harsh. The next year they took over the mainstream music scene.
