Jamal Khashoggi case

Post by Kuroneko »

Report by Aljazeera

Audio, video recordings prove Khashoggi killed inside consulate: report

US and Turkish officials told The Washington Post there are audio and video recordings proving Khashoggi was tortured and murdered inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Video recordings show a Saudi assassination team seizing the journalist after he walked in on October 2. He was then killed and his body dismembered, the officials told the Post - the newspaper that Khashoggi wrote for as a columnist.

The audio was particularly gruesome, the sources said.
Explainer: What we know about the Khashoggi probe

"The voice recording from inside the embassy lays out what happened to Jamal after he entered," said one official speaking anonymously because the intelligence is classified.

"You can hear his voice and the voices of men speaking Arabic. You can hear how he was interrogated, tortured, and then murdered."https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2018/10/ ... 42286.html

Here is an interesting opinion article written by Mr. Khashoggi in the Washington Post dated Sept 18th of last year.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/glo ... 291ed161e5

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am curious (wasn't able to find out on Google) if he is related to Adnan Khashoggi (was at one time considered by some to be the richest man in the world). I find it interesting because Donald Trump ended up buying a yacht from Adnan (see info in link below).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adnan_Khashoggi
\
(NOTE : states family is of Turkish origin)

Because Adnan had major real estate deals in the early 80's in Salt Lake City (Utah-USA) very close to where I grew up at the time. My buddy and me talked about him and Donald Trump at the time. It was my first exposure to Mr. Trump (not many people outside of New York area knew of or talked about Mr Trump then (early 80's).

If anyone knows if they are related let us know.

Very curious.

It's very simple. There would be security cameras inside the embassy showing him coming, collecting his paperwork, and leaving if that's what happened. If they are unwilling to show the footage, then it's because that isn't what happened.

Looks like Saudis have admitted responsibility and Turkish police have checked the consulate:

Early on Tuesday, Turkish police left the Saudi consulate, where Mr Khashoggi was last seen, after an overnight search.

However it seems the cleaners were in first! :?

How would America and other western country's react, if the same happened on a Iranian consulate?

Certainly not like this: "Trump gives Saudi benefit of doubt in Khashoggi case" "US President Donald Trump has cautioned against rushing to blame Saudi Arabia over the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi." https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-45883174

And then we have this report from the Middle East Eye
Jamal Khashoggi's killing took seven minutes, Turkish source tells MEE

Middle East Eye publishes first details of audio tape acquired by Turkish investigators probing what happened to Saudi journalist
It took seven minutes for Jamal Khashoggi to die, a Turkish source who has listened in full to an audio recording of the Saudi journalist's last moments told Middle East Eye.

Khashoggi was dragged from the Consul General’s office at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and onto the table of his study next door, the Turkish source said.

Horrendous screams were then heard by a witness downstairs, the source said.

"The consul himself was taken out of the room. There was no attempt to interrogate him. They had come to kill him,” the source told MEE.

The screaming stopped when Khashoggi - who was last seen entering the Saudi consulate on 2 October - was injected with an as yet unknown substance.

Salah Muhammad al-Tubaigy, who has been identified as the head of forensic evidence in the Saudi general security department, was one of the 15-member squad who arrived in Ankara earlier that day on a private jet.

Tubaigy began to cut Khashoggi’s body up on a table in the study while he was still alive, the Turkish source said.

The killing took seven minutes, the source said.https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/excl ... -829291552

It will be interesting to see which of all the other ethical and righteous countries stop getting oil from them now after this.

"Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh."
