Indonesian man, 26, marries English lady, 21, sends Internet in Indonesia into overdrive

This was after news made the rounds that a 26-year-old man from Magelang, Indonesia married a 21-year-old woman from Manchester, England.

The couple has been an item for some time and decided to tie the knot in a simple Muslim wedding ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 16.

Indonesian media have identified the couple’s separate Instagram accounts as Karna Radheya and Polly Alexandria Robinson, respectively.

Photos and a video of their ceremony exploded all over social media in Indonesia.

The video alone has close to 850,000 views.

Simple wedding
The video of the wedding showed that the couple kept it as a simple affair.

Polly can be seen smiling while clad in a modest white dress and a pink shawl covering her head.

Her husband, Karna was seated next to her as proceedings were carried out and the wedding was officiated in front of a small group of guests.

I sometimes think Asian(F)/Western(M) relationships can work well because Asian women come with low expectations of men and Western men with low expectations of women (from their own cultures). Thus both have potential upside in the cross-cultural relationship.

Unfortunately it works in reverse with Asian(M)/Western(F). She is unhappy that he won't help with the cleaning etc (as she has been brought up to expect) and he is unhappy that she expects him to, etc etc. There are honourable exceptions but disappointment often ensues.

Yeah, I don't get why this has made such a sensation in Indonesia.. Haven't they had inter-racial marriages before? Or is it coz she presumably not moslem?

By the way, she looks like a doll in the first pic.

This. More so in a moslem culture and environment. Maybe she will convert to Islam like Sinead O'Conner..

It says in the article she did convert to Islam.

But she is not wearing a head scarf in many of the photos.

Maybe he is not a strict Muslim.

I am interested to see how this relationship goes in future years.

Who is the little girl? Maybe his daughter from a previous relationship.
