Indonesian execution imminent for "Bali 9" pair

Post by Anchor Moy »

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/a ... -execution
Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan have been told they will face the firing squad as soon as Tuesday.

The Bali Nine pair said they were given notice on Saturday of Indonesia’s intention to execute them in a minimum of 72 hours, during a meeting on Nusakambangan Island.
Countdown has started. I don't see the Indonesians backing down now.

Damn, and I would have bet money that it wasn't going to happen.

Oh well, will at least be a lesson for wannabe drug smugglers.

I think Abbott tried to help to score political points, but everything he touches turns to shit, King Midas in reverse, as Stephen Stills would say.

Time and date confirmed:
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/ar ... d=11439332
Australians Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran will be executed just after the stroke of midnight on Wednesday (5am NZT), it has been confirmed.

The date - April 29 - became official when a local funeral director in Cilacap, the nearest port to Nusakambangan, or Death Island, was instructed to inscribe the names of those to be shot by firing squad and the date of their deaths.

Their families have been told they will be forced to say their final farewells at 4pm NZT Tuesday.

Chan and Sukumaran both refused to sign their execution warrants when they were given 72 hours notice of their deaths during official proceedings on Saturday, saying they believed it would be unjust to kill them.

Well harsh IMO, but the law is the law. It amazes me that people still do it knowing what the penalties are

Any chance you might run those graphics in your signature file sideways please Jamie? Vertically adds a whole lot of unnecessary scrolling to the forum.

Lol! From what you've posted online, it seems like half your money was made doing illegal things, plus you talk about drugs you do all the time... I hope you get arrested. I'm not saying what they did was smart, but I think you'd be singing a different tune if you were ever arrested. Might teach you some empathy.
