Indonesian execution imminent for "Bali 9" pair

I would like to make it crystal clear. I don't oppose the death penalty in certain circumstances - murder an innocent or rape a child? I will happily pull the trigger myself. Drug trafficking? Fuk America's war on drugs. NOBODY forced you to put that spike in/smoke that pipe/bong whatever.Blame yourself, not the people that supplied your habit.
imo, the Australian government has NO option now but to also threaten to cease all diplomatic relations with any country that enforces the death penalty for drug dealers. Sailorman it was YOUR country that caused this. Fuk the USAssholes war on drugs and the DAMAGE IT HAS CAUSED TO THE WORLD.

Agreed but it will probably be swept under the carpet, there is to much at stake.

On a scientific note, how many people could one kill with 8KG plus of heroin?

What is a fatal dose?

depends on purity ( how much that 8 key's was cut)

street dime bags in the states are less than 5% pure

Fatal dose depends on person and if snorting or shooting, but as little as 1/10th of a gram could do it.
you do the math

You all do realize that without the Oz police informing on their fellow countrymen they would never have been caught most likely
Mick Keelty, who led the Australian Federal Police when they chose to tip off the Indonesian authorities to the activities of these two men, knowing full well that this information would likely lead to their deaths,

Interesting opinion piece on Indonesia's drug policies - Pushers and users are treated almost samesame.
However, if the Indonesian government were really serious about protecting the wellbeing of its citizens, it would pursue harm-reduction strategies aimed at Indonesian drug users instead of executing drug traffickers.

Currently, Indonesia has not only some of the world's harshest laws against the trafficking but also the consumption of drugs.

Indonesian laws make almost no distinction between drug dealers and drug users and anti-narcotics laws that criminalise and discriminate against addicts have become more draconian over time.
It is also pointed out that the same international community that is making such an outcry over these executions is also partly responsible for the situation.(It doesn't say so specifically, but I would presume that Australia tows the US "tough on drugs" line. And as someone else mentioned, it was the Australian police who were responsible for the arrests by Indonesian authorities, despite the possibility of the death penalty.)
What a bunch of hypocrites. :bad:
While the country's approach to drug users is characterised by government incompetence and counterproductive policies, the international community has contributed its fair share to this deplorable situation. Many of Indonesia's drug laws are inspired by the US approach to drugs, which has seeped into Indonesia through the United Nations' conservative narcotics policy.

Furthermore, a surge in funding for law enforcement in recent years, partially paid for by foreign donor agencies promoting "good governance", has provided the Indonesian government with the financial means to enforce laws that take a hardline approach to drugs.

I love the way cockroach Abbott did this under the guise of human rights and compassion.

Perhaps someone should tell him about the refugees they are deporting to Cambodia...
