Hundreds of Hezbollah pagers explode across Lebanon injuring thousands

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

AIRLINES TO ISRAEL: YOU BLOW UP PAGERS... WE CANCEL FLIGHTS

Following reports of Israel’s alleged mass attack on Hezbollah using exploding pagers in Lebanon to kill several and injure thousands, Air France, Lufthansa, and British Airways have canceled all flights to Israel scheduled for tomorrow.
The airlines are overreacting. cked. But it was quite a coup for Mossad.
I don't think the airlines are over-reacting.

This is a move in the interest of passenger safety to ensure there are no retaliatory attacks of a similar nature.

Also, maybe it's about time someone started putting pressure on Israel.

Can you think?
Why do you always think you have a monopoly on thought?

There is no greater risk of a bomb being planted on a flight to and from Israel than before this event, and that threat is managed already, successfully. The threat level is already as high as it gets in that part of the world, and has been ever since Muslim terrorists developed a penchant for hijackings and bombings. Are you seriously suggesting Hezbollah is capable of mimicking this attack by using airline passengers as unsuspecting mules?

If an area becomes markedly more dangerous as a result of an event - which in this case is now likely - then airlines will always reconsider the risks, and so will their insurers. It's a commercial decision based on risk first and then reward, not a political one. They may have decided to adopt a wait and see policy, and reconsider in a week or so.

The airlines don't particularly care if/how Israel kills or maims Hezbollah members, they are far more concerned about whether their planes are capable of being shot down. Hezbollah may have such capabilities and have been keeping their powder dry. This event may change that position. However, if Hezbollah wants to fuck about with Israeli aviation, this will make their own international airport a potential target for a retaliatory strike. Two can play that game.

Given the mass amount of production and smuggling of various drugs worldwide, i'd give a try to a light touch of MDMA into water supply before hitting with heavier stuff, see if a touch of chemical-induced-happiness could turn the mood up for a while....see what happens...

wouldn't it be easier to ban electronic devices ?

as i recall, i had none flying in the 70-80's

a small price to pay
What if Hezbollah fires hundreds or thousands of missiles, more than the iron dome can handle, to hit Tel Aviv airport to retaliate?
thats why israel blew up the pagers and walkie talkies, take the terrorists fingers out the equation. hard to fire a gun then or press a button to launch a missile ;) :D
it's a shame for the children who died, they were probably playing with yhe father pagers.
it is always a shame for any innocents on any side

This level of compassion in war is relatively recent thing. There are no innocents in a war. It is and has always been about subjugating your enemy so severely that their defeat becomes so ingrained on their cultural psyche it would take at least 3 generations to erase.
The Mongol Horde under Genghis Khan had this down to a fine art and even wiped out an entire civilization that has only recently been rediscovered.
But if more recent history is needed then how about the bombing of German and English cities during the 2nd world war. Dresden and the V1 & V2 rocket attacks on England certainly killed a lot of innocents. Or the 2 nukes dropped on Japan?

The only change in how war is waged now is that pure strength and courage have been replaced by high tech smarts and soon it will be gamer style reflexes over pure muscle as semi-autonomous robots are developed.

So, if we want to stop more innocents from dying then we need to have one side win. Until there is a clear winner, and I refer back to my initial point about utterly and completely subjugating your enemy, then the deaths on both sides will continue. This is how all major wars have been concluded. If they didn't end due to an overwhelmingly violent act that impacted the very soul of the nation then the conflict just resurfaces a generation later.

so where is this all headed<
A does this to B, so B has to retaliate against A and on and on
while more innocent ( yes there are innocents in war) lives are lost

a well written piece
"The centre of gravity is moving northward," Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said during a visit to an air base on Wednesday. "We are at the start of a new phase in the war."
Israeli officials have remained tight-lipped about the explosions that led the television news bulletins and dominated newspaper headlines.
Amos Harel of the left-leaning Haaretz newspaper said the pager and walkie-talkie blasts had put "Israel and Hezbollah on the brink of all-out war".
https://world.thaipbs.or.th/detail/fear ... 450-/54786
After The New York Times reported that the pagers had been ordered from Taiwanese manufacturer Gold Apollo, the company said they had been produced by its Hungarian partner BAC Consulting KFT.

A government spokesman in Budapest said the company was "a trading intermediary, with no manufacturing or operational site in Hungary".
could the company in Budapest been a Mossad front?
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

we should have nuked Lebanon
Not surprised a statement like that comes from you...... Nuke a whole country, old folks, women, children as retaliation.
Hey thanks. I still watch videos of German cities burning. They've been pretty good and quiet since then. Nothing calms a bunch of national lunatics down better than a good hearty bombing.

Half in jest, but maybe scientists should experiment with such MDMA and mushroom type therapies in some wars, where perceptions calcify into immovable objects.
