Headlines Burma ( yes Aung san says you can say Burma)

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

FYI
He was than fired form his job :-(
The junta on Saturday fired Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s permanent representative to the UN, after he criticized the coup and defended deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi. At an informal meeting in New York on Friday, Kyaw Moe Tun called on the international community to “take the strongest possible action” to reverse the Feb. 1 coup, stop the military from oppressing the Burmese people and return the country to democracy.

“He failed to follow the state’s orders and instructions, committed treason, showed his loyalty” to the parliamentary committee led by Suu Kyi’s party, and “misused his authoritative powers as an ambassador of Myanmar,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said

For God's sake, if ever there were a need for international intervention, this would be it. If this ever happened in our own countries for whatever reason, and we found ourselves with sticks and stones against our own armed forces armed with tanks and missiles, we would all hope that someone would step in to help us.

The Burmese people know they can't do this on their own and are pleading for international help. Why is nobody prepared to step in? What if Burma were a major oil producer? Would that change other countries readiness to intervene?
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

Unfortunately PR is probably right AM. People are reading and shrugging their shoulders. And why should they care to be quite honest? It's just one of many tragedies occurring in the world at the present and their are many far worse that are, undoubtedly, going under-reported. Without checking there's probably a few cases equally bad happening right now somewhere in Africa. Then there's the middle east, the Uyghurs in China the list goes on .... people become immune to it. Of course, Governments will respond once their interests are threatened and then we are told we should care about "such-and-such" because "reasons".

Death toll stands at 18 today alone
Yangon (4)
Mandalay (2)
Bago (3)
Dawei (4)
Myeik (1)
Pakokku (2)
Mawlamyine (1)

At least 18 people were killed and more than 30 people injured on Sunday as police and soldiers violently dispersed anti-coup protesters in Myanmar, according to the UN’s human rights body.

Image
Local media reported that in six Myanmar towns including Yangon and Mandalay, security forces used live ammunitions on unarmed protesters in addition to tear gas, stun grenades, rubber bullets and slingshots.

Footage of the crackdown and police celebrations after their violent dispersal made the rounds on social media.

I follow, and read every one.

Not saying this is "right", just an observation of my responses >>
I seem to have lost all sympathy for this racist nationalist woman.
For these party faithful to plead to the world for help (every day) when they said FU to "the international community" when we expressed similar concerns about their own human rights crimes is just plain pig-ignorant.

Sorry, i don't buy the "dammed if she did - dammed if she didn't" argument at all.
Fact is, imo, she is a racist who would not lift a finger of her previously famous and much traded, (now INfamous) "democratic principals" because she does not actually believe in them for non-Burmese.
- and/or was not prepared to spend 1 cent of her huge political capital in leading any change in the Burmese peoples sense of racial superiority.

Just another stinking hypocrite in my book.
Unfortunately the "democratic" desires of the Burmese people have been betrayed by their chosen leader - and themselves.
'Nearly all supporters of human right crimes. What they did and still do to their Rohingya population is just plain foul.

I also observe that i am saddened by my reaction, but it is probably unlikely to change.
The international politicians and ideologues will posture and huff and puff about the military and China but they don't really give Two Hoots about the Burmese any more - and neither do the millions of decent people who formally did.

Very sad - but inevitable when this paragon of democracy said "Fuck Off" to the rest of the world - "i support ethnic cleansing and near-genocide" and all of the Burmese democrats cheered.

Keep the Burmese News Bureau pumping tho', Rich.
It's still fascinating.

The "country" has been pretty much fuct since independence. It's a bandit nation run by generals and warlords and the biggest exporter of narcotics on the planet. Definitely needs intervention, and I think we have just the right man for that. :D
