Re: Headlines Burma ( yes Aung san says you can say Burma)
today... nothing on fb or twitter from anyone inside Burma for the last 9 hours
A good overview
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/06/worl ... N6-e1xKlIg
With the generals’ abrupt seizure of power, the people of Myanmar are again in the military’s cross hairs — and increasingly shut off from the world. Although the putsch, led by Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, the army chief, was itself bloodless, the military has resorted to familiar tactics in the days since: dozens of arrests, beatings by mysterious thugs, telecommunications outages and, this time, social media bans targeting Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. An entire class of people — poets, painters, reporters and rap artists among them — has gone into hiding.

Re: Headlines Burma ( yes Aung san says you can say Burma)
yesterday
pics coming out even with very spotty internet
Right in the middle of the #Myanmar #Yangon city now infront of city hall downtown, a popular protest gathering spot. Also where nation's Independence Monument is. Crowds protesting against the #militarycoup have occupied the streets and blocked traffic
My question is what will the Junta do? Its not in their makeup to let domestic or international threats sway them

Yep - they are 'touchy' about radio transmitters. I had to jump through hoops to import my ham radio equipment around 2017, took me 6 years of lobbying for them to finally issue me with an import licence....phuketrichard wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 5:51 pm ahh, found something to charge her with;

3rd day of protest,
In #NayPyiTaw #Myanmar capital, police fired #watercannons at protesters demonstrating against #military govt. Person who took video allowed me to use without identity.Says police fired without warning for some 10 mins. Am told water NOT chemically-lace
How long will the junta allow this?

Re: Headlines Burma ( yes Aung san says you can say Burma)
from this statement, looks like things might get nasty
#Myanmar state TV #MRTV posted a statement, announced it on news that laws have been broken in nation. That without discipline, democracy can be destroyed. #Military government will take action against all who violate law & threaten citizens' security #whatishappeninginmyanmar
Myanmar state TV is now signaling potential crackdown on anti-coup protests that are sweeping the country: It said legal action should be taken against acts that harms the stability of the state, public safety and rule of law.

CNA news Singapore that the Tatmadaw is in violation of intl law & must respect the rights of people to protest their unlawful coup. The generals must stand down and know that the world is watching: "We are on the side of the protesters."
