Burmese voice their feelings with pots and pans
Three weeks before his coup, Myanmar's army chief met the Chinese government’s top diplomat. Myanmar's army said they discussed its complaint about elections and what it was doing about them. Could he always count on Beijing's support?
good read;
The coup in Myanmar demands a response - but sanctions could be catastrophic and may not even work

This would be disastrous as covid is spreading throughout the country.

as shown by the past, so trueThe danger is that they won't listen to any outside opinions.
Instead motivated by pride and power, these generals may be so certain that they are the rightful rulers of Myanmar, the country's true saviours, that they will continue blindly down their chosen path regardless of pressure from the people or the international community.

After coup, medical workers spearhead civil disobedience campaign
https://www.frontiermyanmar.net/en/afte ... -campaign/Staff from dozens of state hospitals and medical institutes have pledged to stop working from tomorrow in protest against yesterday’s coup, in what could prove the first major test for the new military regime.
Medical staff from hospitals in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and other cities say they plan to stop work indefinitely from tomorrow in protest against the military coup. The campaign of civil disobedience follows calls from activist groups and senior National League for Democracy officials for peaceful resistance to the takeover, which the Tatmadaw claims is constitutional.
The campaign could be the first major political test for the new military regime, which has so far faced little tangible opposition to the coup launched in the early hours of Monday. The Tatmadaw says it will rule for a year under an emergency provision in the 2008 Constitution, and has justified its seizure of power through unproven claims of widespread electoral fraud.
The NLD has rejected the legal basis for the takeover, and in an interview with Frontier and other outlets yesterday, NLD patron U Win Htein called on the public to launch non-violent protests in response. His call echoed a letter purportedly from State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi that was posted on her Facebook page, urging the people to “boldly stand against the coup”.

a bi product of the Coup
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-myan ... SKBN2A31J0BANGKOK (Reuters) - Myanmar’s fragile ceasefire with several armed ethnic insurgent movements is in danger of unraveling after a military coup this week, a senior representative of a coalition of rebel groups told Reuters on Wednesday.
More than two dozen ethnic armed groups are active in Myanmar’s borderlands. Some have signed ceasefire agreements while others continue to wage conflicts that flare sporadically.
General Yawd Serk of the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS), who is also acting chairman of a group representing 10 groups in a National Ceasefire Agreement, condemned the coup on Monday which overthrew elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
....One analyst said the coup could result in international and domestic pressure on the military, strengthening the hand of the ethnic groups in their push for autonomy.

Myanmar internet providers block Facebook services after government order
Burma had a huge problem with Whats app back when the Rohngya's were being killed and fleeing the country with many sending incendiary messages
Banging of pots/pans continues a second night in Yangon
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-myan ... SKBN2A32ZEInternet providers in Myanmar including state-owned telecom MPT were blocking access to Facebook Inc-owned services in the country on Thursday, days after military leaders seized power in a coup.
A letter posted online by the Ministry of Communications and Information overnight said Facebook would be blocked until Feb. 7 for the sake of “stability.”
U.N. human rights investigators have previously said hate speech on Facebook had played a key role in fomenting violence in Myanmar. The company has said it was too slow to act in preventing misinformation and hate in the country.
This week, Facebook said it was treating the situation in Myanmar as an emergency and taking temporary measures to protect against harm such as removing content that praises or supports the coup, according to a spokeswoman.

Myanmar nationals living in Thailand set a fire to a picture of Myanmar military Commander-in-Chief Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing during a protest in front of the United Nations’ building in Bangkok, Thailand, Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021. (AP Photo/Sakchai Lalit
https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/int ... etain-her/YANGON, Myanmar (AP) — Myanmar authorities charged the country’s deposed leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, with possessing illegally imported walkie-talkies, her allies said Wednesday, a move that gives the generals who overthrew her legal grounds to detain her for two weeks.
The charge came to light two days after Suu Kyi was placed under house arrest and appeared to be an effort to lend a legal veneer to her detention, though the generals have previously kept her and others locked up for years.
IF she is found guilty I( no doubt of that) she can not hold office..
