Goodbye, Queen Elizabeth II
Re: Goodbye, Queen Elizabeth II
Yes. God Save the King was simply changed to God Save The Queen when she took the throne. It will now revert back.Cowshed Cowboy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 11:54 am I wonder if they'll keep the same national anthem just changing it to God Save The King and the relevant words.

on a similar note. interesting how many things will have to be changed. I am sure they will do this gradually but the list is long, from post boxes, to coat of arms (potentially)xandreu wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 12:19 pmYes. Post boxes are almost redundant now, but in Ireland they still use many pre-independence ones with royal insignia, they just painted them green instead of red.cautious colin wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 12:36 pm on a similar note. interesting how many things will have to be changed. Cheers, I honestly didn't know that that had happened with the existing anthem.xandreu wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 12:19 pmYes. Considering Charles is already in his 70's, it makes you wonder if it's really going to be worth the cost and effort of making all the changes.cautious colin wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 12:36 pmon a similar note. interesting how many things will have to be changed. Well, unless Charles' son and heir has a sex change between now and the passing of Charles they won't be changing from King to Queen again for the foreseeable futurexandreu wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 1:57 pmConsidering Charles is already in his 70's, it makes you wonder if it's really going to be worth the cost and effort of making all the changes.cautious colin wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 12:36 pmon a similar note. interesting how many things will have to be changed. I was thinking more of changing the portraits on the money and ERII emblem which you see associated with so many things.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 2:08 pmWell, unless Charles' son and heir has a sex change between now and the passing of Charles they won't be changing from King to Queen again for the foreseeable futurexandreu wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 1:57 pmConsidering Charles is already in his 70's, it makes you wonder if it's really going to be worth the cost and effort of making all the changes.cautious colin wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 12:36 pmon a similar note. interesting how many things will have to be changed. All those brass and wooden plaques, stationery and business cards. Great time for printers etc.
