God is Angry
Re: God is Angry
I'm no climate change denier but I am not sure this rainstorm in the desert was caused by climate change. Rain in the desert is rare, very rare, but not unheard of. People drown in deserts every year because they tend to camp in the dry streams (wadi's) which fill up quickly in the event of rain. When it rains in the desert, it's rarely a drizzle......phuketrichard wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 5:24 pm blaming it on a non existent god, rather than climate change, is just denying the facts

“in a 24 hour period to Sept. 10, a staggering 414.1 mm [16.2 inches] of rain was recorded in Bayda, while 240 mm [9.5 inches] of rain fell in Marawah in the District of Jabal al Akhdar, and 170 mm [6.7] fell in Al Abraq in the Derna District.”

Nothing new here, and rumors and wars and earthquakes have repeated again and again since the recording of history began...RightSaidFred wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 5:29 pm Matthew 24:6-7
And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
...People are generally better fed today than in the past... famine today is the fallout of overpopulation wed to climate catastrophe...
That is not really new either: about a million years ago our ancestors may almost have perished completely... this perhaps small essence in only 1300 persons also suggests our gene pool started out very tiny -- which would give those who imagine that our individual genetic makeup harbours great uniqueness, or those who pretend genetics holds the answer to varied intellectual ability much less ground to stand on.

We are all the same genes, and except for outer appearances, virtually identical to each other...

One of the reports I saw said that's about a year worth of rain, dropped on the area in one day. Staggering indeed.hanno wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 3:42 pmHalf a city got washed away....Kammekor wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 2:58 pmI'm no climate change denier but I am not sure this rainstorm in the desert was caused by climate change. The major reason half the city washed away was bcuz two dams collapsed. Without warning, sending a wall of water down stream. Wiping out everything in it's path.Random Dude wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 2:25 amOne of the reports I saw said that's about a year worth of rain, dropped on the area in one day. That was the major cause for so much damage and death toll. The dams collapsing due to years of neglect and the the shear amount of rain in 1 day.

Re: God is Angry
Yes. The point of my post was just to give a different perspective on the sheer amount of rain. When I see an amount in mm it doesn't mean much to me because I usually don't know how much is normal. When I see it's a year's worth of rain in a very short time - that's something I can visualize much easier.Newinkow wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 3:11 amThe major reason half the city washed away was bcuz two dams collapsed. I reckon she's just getting started too. Summer in the Southern Hemisphere is looking like it might be a bit of a wild ride in some places.Username Taken wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 6:08 pm It's got nothing to do with God.
Mother Nature controls all this stuff. And she usually wins in the end.
Nature's way of population control.
