Fox News analyst exposed as fake CIA agent
In today's weird and wonderful news, a Fox News "expert" on terrorism has been arrested for impersonating a CIA agent for decades. I find the motives for this kind of charade quite fascinating. This guy worked as a military intelligence advisor FFS, so its not just a matter of FN being gullible. Maybe you start to believe your own BS after a while since nobody bothers to check up on you. http://www.waynesimmons.us/

But, apart from being "funny" in a weirdo way, this faker who is linked with rightwing conservatives, has been spouting total BS while posing as an expert on terrorism. It gets unfunny fast.A Fox News guest terrorism analyst was arrested on Thursday after a grand jury indicted him on charges of falsely claiming to have been a CIA agent for decades, US prosecutors said.
Wayne Simmons, 62, of Annapolis, Maryland, bogusly portrayed himself as an “Outside Paramilitary Special Operations Officer” for the Central Intelligence Agency from 1973 to 2000, the US Attorney’s Office for Virginia’s Eastern District said in a statement.
Simmons allegedly tried to use that claim to get government security clearances and work as a defense contractor. At one point he was deployed overseas as an intelligence adviser to senior military officers, the statement said...
He has appeared on Fox News, a unit of 21st Century Fox Inc , as a guest analyst on terrorism since 2002 and has a wide presence among conservative groups...

... The indictment is a red flag for every television network that relies on the input of analysts based on their supposed credentials. The news industry comes to trust individuals as "specialists" in part because of their own self-promotion and past media appearances.
In his appearances on Fox, Simmons regularly made extreme and factually dubious statements pertaining to terrorism and national security. Just this January, he claimed there were "at least 19 paramilitary Muslim training facilities in the United States." ...

American "Intelligence" strikes me a bit of an oxymoron....Username Taken wrote:But, but, sir, there are WMDs in Iraq. We just haven't found them yet.

Ouch!! Let me rephrase that: I did not mean individual American intelligence, I meant the American Intelligence service: WOMD, Kunduz getting overrun, extending the stay of the American military, blowing up a MSF hospital, etc.wackyjacky wrote:Just like 'German humor'.
And don't mention the war.
