I suspect the poll attached to this thread would show Trump having prevailed in the debate even if he'd thrown acid in the face of babies.

Re: First Presidential Debate Between TRUMP-BIDEN (Streaming Live)
I really tried to watch this debate, but after a while I just turned it off. I knew it was going to be like watching a divorced couple screaming at each other, but I really hoped there would be at least some genuine, factual policy content. All I saw was deflection and an immediate revert to "You're a liar!" "No! You are." I swear my 10 year old twins are more grown up than those two nearly 80 year old men.
The biggest loser of the night however, was Chris Wallace. He did a deplorable job as a moderator. Trump even made the comment at one point "Well, I guess I'm debating you too."
Wallace failed to establish his identity as an impartial judge early on, and after that point lost complete control of Trump, who basically dismissed him as just another talking head to be ignored. Wallace came off as a guy trying to protect Biden from Trump the school yard bully, and clearly injected his own personal opinions into then questions. While this may be acceptable for a pop up street brawl, a debate like this requires a judge who act more like it is a prize fight, and allow both sides to whale on each other without becoming involved so long as they follow the rules. The only way to get someone like Trump to actually respect you, is to be brutally impartial so he feels like you are a not an opponent when you do decide to try and rein him in.
The minute Wallace allowed even the slightest impression this was a 2-against-1 match, there was no hope. Things just degenerated from there.
I hope in the next debates the moderator learns from Wallace's poor performance and takes a more controlled approach. This is likely one of the most difficult presedentials debates in history to moderate. It was clear Wallace was totally incapable of the task.
As for what Biden stands for....I still haven't the faintest clue. I learned nothing more than I knew before. The only thing I did come away with is that Biden is not yet completely senile, and we might be able to avoid invoking the 25th ammendment for a while if he wins. I suppose that is a good thing. For what it's worth I really want single payer healthcare in the USA just like every other civilized country. I'm just not sure I can tolerate all the other globalist baggage that comes along with the Harris ticket. I had hoped this debate would ease my concerns. It didn't. For that reason, I don't really think Trump won, but Biden definitely lost.

Hit the nail on the head. How could these two misfits possibly be the very best that the USA can put up, as national and world leaders? Its enough to make me believe in a conspiracy.....the real power is in the hands of much smarter people who just need puppets to distract the mob with their clownish antics while the faceless ones rule. It's the only theory that can explain what we saw on tv today.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 8:55 am Trying to watch and all i can say,
this is the head of the free world an this is the best that the people of america can come up with?
