Re: Fifa officials arrested on corruption charges
Because the crimes they have been arrested on occurred in America. I wonder if any will crack and roll on Blatter. Ivladimir wrote:Haha, saw Putin saying it's an American plot, but he raised a valid question, the guys arrested are not US citizens, and they were not arrested in America, so wtf were the FBI involved?
And to hear some cow at the Shite House in America talking about corruption, i mean...pot calling kettle...
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.

But surely they should ask the country to arrest them, or Interpol?
afaik, the FBI don't have jurisdiction outside the US, right?
Mexico tells them to go to hell regularly.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/201 ... s-arrested“The bribery suspects – representatives of sports media and sports promotion firms – are alleged to have been involved in schemes to make payments to the soccer functionaries – delegates of Fifa (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) and other functionaries of Fifa sub-organisations – totalling more than $100m.
“In return, it is believed that they received media, marketing, and sponsorship rights in connection with soccer tournaments in Latin America. According to the US request, these crimes were agreed and prepared in the US, and payments were carried out via US banks.”

OK, so the crimes were carried out against US banks (heartbroken, sniff), but how do they get authority to act in a sovereign EU state?

Bomb just went off outside FIFA HQ. Hope it's nothing trivial for Blatter.

I think one of the first investigations conducted should be with regard to the events in Lisbon, Portugal - 28th April 1993.

I understand to this day, there are many, many people still emotionally and financially effected by this corrupt event.

I was at that game. Some of us managed to overcome the trauma a couple of weeks later by consuming copious amounts of ridiculously cheap Estonian vodka.CJM555 wrote:Username Taken wrote:The sooner Haliburton takes control of the World Cup the better.

Hey Vlad, special for you. Jon Stewart answers your questions. Starts a bit weak, but stay watching until the end - you won't be disappointed.
