And that cop pointing his gun at reporters... was one reporter... who was baiting him in. He shouldn't have lost his cool on it, for sure, but that reporter (Alex Jones) is a proper cockbag for taking shots and baiting people who are under as much stress as those guys must me. He's a known hard right conspiracy theorist film maker/seller who loves stirring shit up rather than just reporting.

Though I do suspect a few here are big fans of his...

A nice Cracked article ripping him up, lol:

OrangeDragon wrote:I have been going over this with my facebook friends... knife attackers are legal to use lethal force on within 21 feet because of the quickness they can close that difference before an officer can react. Coming towards cops with a knife while refusing to drop it... being aggressive towards them, and clearly intending not to stop.

Based on the 21 foot rule, which states a knife attacker can close that distance in such a way as to be a lethal threat (even with momentum after being shot) in 1.5 seconds... 1/3 of that distance would imply 1/3 of that time... or half a second. Half a second to react to an assailant making a charge and fire before he gets close enough his momentum will carry him into you IF the first shot is a kill and not a wound or miss.

How much risk exactly should they be in? Wait till he's stuck the knife in one and THEN he can shoot?

Video for those who haven't seen it:

So you watched the video and you think it's OK ?
Why can't you state your opinion and rely on your own eyes, common sense and intellect instead of posting all these links and posting what you are told.

I posted a link to the video so everyone could judge for themselves. Unlike you who only referenced it and then proceeded to tell people what they should think of it. I have seen it, and I posted my opinion that the officers life was absolutely in danger with the explanation of why that was my opinion, based on a ruling that is supported by multiple studies of how people react in situations.

Not sure how you think I didn't. Or why you insist on putting words in my mouth. That guy was coming at police (at any speed) aggressively with a knife. How much more danger does the cop have to be in for you to think shooting is acceptable? If you had a gun in your hand and some guy was yelling at you and coming at you with a knife... how would YOU react? Shoot him? Stand there and "take one for the team"? Run away while he stabs someone else?

What's your solution when it's your life on the line?

What injustice are you referring to? Because I haven't seen you reference one yet.

Nice way to dodge being specific... because when you're specific you're shown to be wrong.

I wonder why rural areas of america need mine detecting vehicles....and why on earth police departments need grenade launchers. Oh well must be the fucking right wing extremist and there xenophobia....they just hate obama causes he's black. This is the NRA's fault for promoting such paranoia!

Right... this is the one we're discussing above regarding the baiting by Alex Jones.

As for why they "need" those vehicles... they don't. They should have some armored vehicles in case some waco texas nutjob with 3000 rounds of ammo in his bunker forgets his meds one day... sure... but not necessarily anti-mine vehicles. However... we happen to HAVE a surplus of armored vehicles coming back at the moment which happen to be anti-mine. Do we just scrap them and build these police forces new ones, or recycle the ones we have?
