Extremist settlers rapidly seizing West Bank land

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Despite the prettily coloured maps, there is no Palestinian state, and there never was.

The Palestinian state is a major international goal and there are few countries (and the majority of people, including me) who would object to such a solution. Countries which recognise the state of Palestine do so to bring forward this objective.

It is unreliable to support your arguments using Wiki, or articles derived from Wiki. It is largely written and rigorously edited by liberal professors in the humanities such as social 'sciences'. They are same people who have encouraged their students to protest in the US campuses.

Here is a more reliable source.

https://unctad.org/topic/palestinian-pe ... -Palestine

The Arabs have always rejected a two-state solution. They demand no less than the destruction of Israel.

NB: Draw your own conclusions from this list:

Among the G20, nine countries (Argentina, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Turkey, as well as permanent invitee Spain) have recognized Palestine as a state, while ten countries (Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States) have not.

And if you were a Palestinian - or if you object to the name Palestinian...from the ethnic group currently living there as they have been for generations - and you'd just had your home and livelihood taken from you and maybe a few family members killed in the process, you might feel the same as the people in that situation now.
It might screw you up enough to join a militant group to fight back at the people doing it.

It's a very complicated situation.

I agree with what you have written.

It is a very complicated situation.

I'm not a Palestinian or Israeli and if I was either of course I would support my own people.

However, there is not yet a state of Palestine. The Arabs have always rejected the proposal because their only demand is the destruction of Israel.

Really?

If you read the map key you can see this was just a proposal - which wasn't accepted by the Palestinians or Arab states.

I can't respond to this because it isn't clear what point you are making. If you believe Palestine was just a proposal then you have made my point for me.

What do you mean by 'Really?'

You seem to disagree with both of us.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balfour_Declaration

If there isn't a country called Palestine, why is it mentioned so many times in all the agreements going way back to 1917, and probably before that.

I'm not going to read those Wiki articles for reasons I have pointed out in other posts. The country of Palestine was just a proposal that has been continuously rejected by the Arabs who demand to have Israel wiped off the map.

Because of quotes of quotes cluttering up comments - and my incompetence - I replied by mistake to John Bingham on what was essentially your argument. (I think he agreed with me!)

The state of Palestine is a proposal and always will be until the Arabs drop their demand for the destruction of Israel.

I'm not sure how much clearer I can make this, but it was just a proposed solution. It was a plan that never came to fruition. As far as I can remember the Israelis were mostly in favor of it but the Palestinians/ Arab states were not. This led to the 1948 mess, etc. The Palestinians were actually being offered a much better deal than they ended up with. Gaza was an Egyptian territory and the West Bank was Jordanian between 1948 and 1967. These maps are often arbitrary lines put on paper with little regard for accuracy.

Than why are so many Israelis demonstrating that not enough is being done to get the hostages back?

Hamas knows once they are gone, whose to stop the IDF from bombing Gaza back to the ice age??

as to Palestine not existing as a state, why does their flag fly at the UN?? as I pointed out above

we will have to agree, to disagree

Psalm 83:4 ESV
They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!”

Ezekiel 25:17 ESV
I will execute great vengeance on them with wrathful rebukes. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon them.”

Regardless who u favor, its fucked and no one will win

“When the Middle East sneezes, the rest of the world—especially America and Western Europe—may get the flu,” observed Israeli journalist Yossi Melman.
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

That's true, but I would add that there have been several two-state solutions proposed, and on each the amount of territory offered to make up a Palestinian State was reduced. On the Arab side, the only satisfactory solution is the destruction of Israel.

That's a sound judgment to this controversy.
