Eclispe anyone?
Eclispe anyone?
going to be about a 90% eclipse for me and it'll hit a little past 10:00 am local time (western Nevada) on Monday.
couple of web pages.

Western US
The first people in the country to see the eclipse will be along the coast of Oregon where the moon will start to block out the sun around 9:04 a.m. PDT and will completely cover the sun by 10:17 a.m. PDT.
Portland and Eugene, Oregon, sit just outside of the path of totality, so people looking to the sky in these cities will experience a partial solar eclipse with the sun blocking out 99 percent of the sun.
should bring out the 'interesting' humans.
cheers

Re: Eclispe anyone?
I'm jealous. That will be very surreal. The wind will stop, birds will cease to sing, and the temperature will instantly drop more than 10° or so.
I remember seeing one as a kid. It was only a partial eclipse, so nothing too drastic, but it was amazing to watch the moon slowly move across the sun. Had to take a break from burning ants with my magnifying glass for a few minutes, but other than that, it was great.

Re: Eclispe anyone?
you actually often get a distinct breeze called the equinoctial wind due to temperature drops during the transit of totality

Re: Eclispe anyone?
Will miss this one but saw two full eclipses in my life, in Kenya and Vietnam. In both countries, the locals were pretty freaked, what with the superstition and all. I guess quite a few people went blind in Kenya as well as the government omitted to tell people to not look directly into the sun...

Re: Eclispe anyone?
Next one anywhere near here is in April 2023 but you'd need to go to East Timor or Papua to see totality.
EDIT: Actually there's an annular one on 26 December 2019, can see 94% coverage from Singapore, among other places.
