Dozens killed in first four days of Duterte's drug war.

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Philippines police kill 32 in bloodiest night of Duterte’s war on drugs
Wednesday 16 August 2017
Philippine police have killed 32 people in a series of raids near the capital Manila in the bloodiest night of president Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs

The raids from Monday to Tuesday resulted in the single largest death toll in one night of police operations since officers killed 16 people, including a city mayor, in a raid on a southern city on 30 July.

Senior police superintendent Romeo Caramat said on Wednesday that 67 police operations in various parts of Bulacan province had left 32 suspects dead in encounters with police, while 109 others were arrested.

The statement updated police records released earlier that said 26 anti-drug operations were conducted in 12 towns and cities, resulting in the killing of 21 “drug personalities”.

The records said 21 firearms and about 100g (3.5 ounces) of methamphetamines, popularly known as “shabu” were seized in the raids.

Philippines drug campaign condemned by senior Catholics
20 August 2017
- The head of the Philippines Catholic Church has criticised the government's bloody campaign against drugs.
Manila Cardinal Luis Tagle condemned "those who kill even the helpless".

Police say that since President Rodrigo Duterte launched a campaign against drug dealers 14 months ago, 3,500 people have been killed.
But rights groups say the number is much higher, and that many of those targeted are innocent. One high-profile case this week spurred new criticism.

Reuters reported that at least 90 people were shot dead this week, with 32 killed in one day alone in Bulacan province, north of the capital Manila.

One of those who died was a 17-year-old boy, Kian Delos Santos. Police said he was killed on Tuesday after shooting at them first in Caloocan City.
However, security camera footage later emerged showing him being dragged away by two officers, raising serious questions about the circumstances of the shooting...

Killing season hits new targets in the Philippines
President Rodrigo Duterte's lethal war on drugs appears to be spreading beyond drug suspects to hit government officials and even Catholic priests
By Jason Castaneda Manila, July 14, 2018 3:41 PM (UTC+8)
The Philippines is gripped in a new wave of killings targeting priests and local officials, adding to the fear and loathing of the government’s lethal war on drugs campaign and fueling speculation of possible state-sponsored killings

Three priests and as many as 16 mayors and vice-mayors have been killed since President Rodrigo Duterte took over office in mid-2016.

He has since overseen a blood-stained campaign of violence that has far exceeded the number of killings under former Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos’ regime. Until now, there has not been a single conclusive investigation into the perpetrators or true motivations behind the targeting of clerics and officials in recent months.
