Having worn fire turnout gear for many years, its heavy, hot and there is no way I would climb up into a tree for a stupid cat.

Exactly. Years ago a friend called the fire brigade for a cat in tree; they replied that there is no known report of a cat ever dying of starvation up a tree.
But, in the meantime, the noise is really annoying.
