That said, intolerance in parts of India is growing and spreading fast - things that may have been tolerated or ignored 3 years ago may not be acceptable today. Since the BJP (Hindu nationalists) came to power, religious violence in the name of the defense of Hinduism has increased and is tacitly encouraged by the authorities.
