Covid-19 VACCINE News
Re: Covid-19 VACCINE News
I thought someone posted on here that he got his first shot. Also, a western friend of mine got "lucky" and had his first shot of AZ in Phnom Penh.

This was my first thought.AndyKK wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 12:48 am My thinking is it should have been our own countries government who should have come forward to seeing it's own people should be sure to be safe, provided with vaccines by it's own country, health care provided that would have been available to them at home. It's also an argument that would go around in circles, why! Because most will give vaccines or fundings to Cambodia, but forget it's own who have mostly paid there dues expected in there own country.
Months back, I naively went to my embassy's web page to see how vaccinations of citizens abroad would be handled.
I had to give myself one of these:

Perfectly reasonable question.........that really never should have been needed to be asked.
In a face-saving culture.....inaction or minimal action is the best policy. When you start acting, the potential for mistake, revelation of ineptitude or loss of face increases exponentially.
Australia just put the onus, rightfully, on Cambodia. I'm sure at the meeting Cambodia will agree to compile a list...........it will be put on the back burner........and unless pressed by foreign embassies........will remain there until the pilot-light goes out.

This is another way of avoiding any responsibility to forginers, and also can be said the same to it's own people. Cooperation between the government's on the welfare of forginers residing in the country seems to be needed.
HE has said forginers legally living in the country would be vaccinated free of charge,
obviously this action needs organisation, something that I feel at times Cambodia's lacking, or it seems more of a slow unorganized event, with false purposes, such has "obtaining a letter from your Embassy".

Always "hope" but never "expect".

Talking about the Chinese vaccine, use of emergency use only, passed by the Cambodian health ministry. I suppose it is better than asking for volunteers to participate in a free trial for China's benefit in getting it's vaccine passed by the WHO.

If it's Sinovac/pharm, then pretty much standard to polio, hep A and rabies shots- had all 3 and not caught polio, hep A or rabies. If it's effective or not, well meh. Best get the shots now while they are free, cos soon will need them to travel and maybe work/get visa. The stuff thats gone through my veins in the 90s and still being here makes me not that concerned.

Re: Covid-19 VACCINE News
My office was asked to submit names of all staff last. Earlier a letter from the ministry was sent inviting all those on the list to turn up tomorrow morning at the hospital and get the jab tomorrow morning. It was in the news a day or so ago that 1 April is the start of a nationwide drive for 1 million (?) injections, so guess to do with that. Hope its no April fool.
