6 Countries You Can Visit for Less than $50 a Day!

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

"aths a normal life style of Khmer .
they seem pretty happy and not deprived."

I find you to be a presumptuous touron to authoritatively claim knowledge of a "normal lifestyle of Khmer."

I know plenty of Khmer who live on less and others who spend more on gasoline per day than that but I know of none who live in hostels.

Pray tell me what is the difference between a "tourist" and a "traveler"?

I am on the other side of the fence. Meaning I sell food and beverages to travellers and tourists. The backpackers try to keep to their mostly low budgets. Older tourists will mostly want discounts, telling me of their travels and costs around the country. (Not all). But then these guys will think nothing about paying the local next door massage establishments a good price. Khmer customer's on the other hand don't ask for discounts and always leave a tip.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Really? That is interesting. By whose definition? And why do the soap-dodgers call themselves "traveler"? By your definition, the last "traveler" was ca. 1974 in Kenya.
