Cost of living answers

Post by Bertros »

couple of links about cost of living in various cities. first link is an article about most expensive, 2nd link is cost of living in a list: most to least and seems to do a decent breakdown on each city if you click the link for a particular one. not sure about the actual listed number as it has PP (#316) costing more than Phuket (#332), Bangers (#331) and patters (#335) and I would not have thought that. it doesn't list snk or SR but you can get some general info on those places if you click the PP line (link) and look towards the bottom of the page for those places (there's a section with nearby cities listed). Just checked a few cities I am somewhat familiar with and the info seemed reasonable to a 1st order. it looks like you can add in your own data as well.

The city with the highest relative cost of living in the world is Hamilton, the capital of Bermuda.
That’s according to rankings published by data company Numbeo. The company continuously updates its data and just published its Cost of Living Index Rate for 2017. The list is calculated relative to New York City, which has an index of 100. If a city has a cost of living index of 130, it is 30 percent more expensive than New York; if a city has an index of 70, it is 30 percent less expensive.
Hamilton has a rating of 141.59, nearly 10 points higher than the second-most expensive city on the list, Geneva, Switzerland.

How is it free? The pumps cost money, why would anyone bother doing it for free unless it's part of a larger service?

So people just buy air compressors and wait around to fill your tires as a public service? In Europe you have to pay for air at most gas stations.

And you need your own pressure gauge. But most of the major petrol cos. have a windscreen washing sponge/squeegee thingy. Free. Stick your card in or wave a small wand at pump, fill & off you go.

it seems to me that if the cost of filling your tires is the tipping point for a move/no move....
(how often do you fills tires anyways?)

maybe you are better off not going there (where ever 'there' is).

Personally, for me it's booze, food and transportation that have a much larger impact on
my financial trip planning (or living) decisions. (oh yeah, and cost of housing, utilities, fans... :D )

Just sayin'
