NZ, Australia - into winter with Covid-19

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Just after we get paid for the Black Death. Those guys have been constantly trying to kill us for aeons. I see Haiti has defaulted on its Syphilis reparations again too, the bastards. 8-)

Read the article they suggest going into quarantine before your flight then on arrival , that's going to make it a long holiday mostly stuck in a hotel

It’s choosing the lesser immediate evil. If all the health care workers get sick and die of the virus, who’s going to treat everyone else? Remember, at the beginning, there wasn’t enough PPE for everyone. As god emperor, what would you choose?

Government is made of people, and that’s what people do. Just like when one doesn’t have enough money for food and rent, which one is chosen?

There is no perfect.

Option 2. Impose Wuhan style martial law. Would go well in democratic western nations.

Hope Australia and New Zealand gives some glimpse about what will happen as the rest of the world heads towards fall and winter.

I’ll put on my tin foil hat back on, now.

I think if you read many of my other posts, you will know the answer to that.

Sometimes people try to make constructive suggestions, but the other person can take it that you are trying to put them down. How do you get them to understand, these are just suggestions to do things better.

You have your good points.

1. You are more active than other moderators. A lot of things get overlooked by other moderators.

2. You are more honest than some. Some just try to make people happy.

But a weakness is, you don't seem to understand some people genuinely have a different opinion to you. Moderators should stop personal attacks, putting people down, bullying, etc. etc. but not people who genuinely have a different opinion.

I respect people who have different beliefs to me, if they are genuine about it, and are good people. We can sometimes learn from people with a different opinion.
Maybe it's an idea to give the moderators a break? Or apply as a moderator yourself?

The mods put up a sign a few posts ago, about them having lives outside this forum, but you choose to ignore it and just keep pushing your agenda. That's a bit tiring to be honest.

New Zealand's three-week streak without local Covid case ends as port worker falls ill
Jacinda Ardern says case is an example of the system working, as Dr Ashley Bloomfield urges continued vigilance
Eleanor Ainge Roy in Auckland
Sun 18 Oct 2020 03.45 BST

After 22 days of no new Covid-19 cases in the community, a port worker in New Zealand has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The case is a New Zealand man who worked at the ports of Taranaki and Auckland and began showing symptoms on Friday, before testing positive on Saturday evening.

Dr Ashley Bloomfield, the director general of health, was alerted to the positive test in the final hour of voting on Saturday in New Zealand’s election – in which prime minister Jacinda Ardern was rewarded for her success in twice eliminating the virus.

The man and his family are now in isolation, and Bloomfield said the case was being treated as an isolated encounter that had most likely seen the man infected on the border, rather than through widespread community circulation.

“The risk is contained,” Bloomfield said on Saturday. “The emergence of a new community case is unsettling, and we need to remain vigilant.

“The case is another reminder that Covid-19 is not going away any time soon.”

Bloomfield said New Zealanders should not become complacent, as Covid-19 continued to devastate the US and many parts of Europe.

Ports of Taranaki and Auckland will now face increased testing, Bloomfield said. The infected man wore personal protective equipment (PPE) while working on foreign ships, and had been tested for Covid four times.

“While we have eliminated community transmission in New Zealand ... that is not the case overseas, where the virus is spreading and there are significant restrictions in place,” Bloomfield warned.

Quite a statement from someone from the land of the big white Boris. I can only assume its inspired by jealousy - where would you rather live, mate, and who would you rather have as your PM?
Oh by the way, anyone is allowed to travel out: they just want to stop the riff raff coming in.

Is the ban on Australian residents leaving the country legal?

Australian citizens and residents need to meet strict criteria to leave the country because of COVID-19. But is it legal?

Hundreds of Victoria hotel quarantine guests must be screened for HIV over blood testing contamination fears
Authorities reveal blood glucose test devices were incorrectly used on 243 people, necessitating screenings for blood-borne diseases
Matilda Boseley
Tue 20 Oct 2020 02.39 BST
More than 200 people who went through hotel quarantine in Victoria must be screened for HIV amid fears of cross-contamination from incorrect usage of blood glucose test devices.

Several such devices were used on multiple people in quarantine between 29 March and 20 August, necessitating screenings for blood-borne diseases such as hepatitis B and C and HIV.

Safer Care Victoria, the state’s healthcare quality and safety agency, has assured the public there is no risk of Covid-19 spread as the disease is not transmitted by blood.

These devices have since been taken out of circulation.

In a statement, a spokesman for the agency said they have identified 243 people who had been tested by one of the shared machines during the timeframe in question, and will be contacted for screening. Everyone “who had conditions or episodes that may have required the test will also be contacted as a precaution”.
