^^^^^^
Why? If you've eliminated the virus and the borders remain closed, how would that happen? Or are you planning to break the bubble?we will almost certainly see cases here again
Re: NZ, Australia - into winter with Cv-19
So here is the answer to all those people around the world saying "oh it was easy for New Zealand to eliminate Covid19, its just a small island".
United Kingdom land area: 242,495 sq kms
New Zealand land area: 268, 021 sq kms
It was total lockdown, civil obedience, willpower and great leadersship.

Will be interesting to see what happens next. They can’t close the borders for the next six decades and this virus isn’t going away until a fairly large part of the world population is immune.

New Zealand records two cases of Covid-19 in returning travellers
Charlotte Graham-McLay
New Zealand has broken a 24-day streak of no new cases of Covid-19 in the country, recording two new infections from returning overseas travellers. Both of the new cases, which are related, have been diagnosed “as a result of recent travel from the UK,” health officials have just announced.
More details will be given at a news conference in two hours.
New Zealand’s government reported that it was free of Covid-19 last week after the last remaining sufferer from the virus recovered. However, the country’s top health official said at the time that there would inevitably be more cases as new arrivals entered the country.
New Zealanders, their families, and particular essential workers, are the only people currently permitted to enter the country. They must stay in government-run quarantine for two weeks, during which time they will be tested twice for the virus.
The country has recorded less than 1,500 confirmed cases of Covid-19, and 22 deaths, after a strict and early national lockdown.

AUSTRALIA UPDATE.
Five guests in your home: Victorian restrictions tightened
By Melissa Cunningham and David Estcourt
June 20, 2020 — 2.53pm
A significant spike in coronavirus cases has led to a drop in the number of household guests allowed in Victorian homes.
The tightening of restrictions - to come into effect from midnight on Sunday - come as coronavirus experts warned Victoria was on the “tipping point” of a second wave of cases on Friday.
The surge forced emergency meetings between authorities with Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos and infectious disease experts on Saturday morning.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews on Saturday said there have been 25 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
Fourteen are linked to known outbreaks and one is in hotel quarantine. The source of six infections is being investigated.
Half of the new cases have come from family to family transmission.
“The experts tell us that, largely, the numbers are being driven by families,” he said. “Families having big get-togethers and not following the advice around distancing and hygiene.
''In fact, around half of our cases since the end of April have come from transmission inside someone’s home,” he said.
“You can see how this could happen. People feeling relaxed at home. Letting their guard down. Letting old habits creep back. But we are still in a pandemic - and people’s lives are still at risk.”

Re: NZ, Australia - into winter with Cv-19
I agree that it wasn't easy. But the fact that NZ is a remote island certainly helped - it would be very difficult if not outright impossible to seal the borders of a more "connected" country.lagrange wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 10:49 am So here is the answer to all those people around the world saying "oh it was easy for New Zealand to eliminate Covid19, its just a small island".

Australia Reports First COVID-19 Death in More than a Month
25/06/20 22:29
SYDNEY, June 24 (Reuters) - Australia's second most populous state on Wednesday (Jun 24) said a man in his 80s died overnight from COVID-19, the country's first death from the coronavirus in more than a month, as the state logged a double digit rise in cases for the eighth straight day.
Victoria state reported 20 overnight cases, Victoria Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton told reporters in Melbourne, taking the state tally to nearly 1,900 after recording 17 on Tuesday and 16 the day before.
The upswing in new cases in Victoria has sparked fears of a second wave, with 241 cases in the state so far identified as community transmission, an increase of eight from Tuesday.

So what is the average lifespan of an Australian male. Pointing out that he was 80 shows that his life was cut short by 20 years if his destiny was to live to 100.xX.TROPA.Xx wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 10:43 pmHE WAS 80!!!CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 10:37 pm Australia Reports First COVID-19 Death in More than a Month
