Is America a Police state

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

the UK is even more so with the panopticon cam net, and the "D-notices" that restrain publication of any "news" deemed to be security related.

not and all, and to presume the justice system if flawless would be a foolish move. it's not. it's staffed by people, and people make mistakes.

if i get in a argument/scuffle with you, tell you "i'm going to fucking kill you in your sleep you piece of shit!" (not calling you a piece if shit... just an example and the words one would potentially use) in front of a dozen witnesses and then go home and pass out drunk alone, what happens if you end up dead? who will be suspect #1?

and if you were choked to death, and i still have some of your dna on my hands from our scuffle... how to prove it wasn't me?

what if the real killer left behind zero clues him/her self? i'm the only person the evidence points to... and it points to me pretty well. i'll likely be jailed.

it's because we don't have a flawless system... we have the best one anyone has come up with so far.

"we have the best one anyone has come up with so far."
formerly perhaps- now i think the danes, swedes, kiwis, and aussies would dispute that statement.
lots of others- the poms- well a kneejerk.
France is a very pleasant place to live as well.
so would conde nast heavily dispute this statement.
it is not working anymore- it is broken, and no one knows how to fix it.

The writers of the constitution knew how to fix it

their systems all run on about the same concepts as ours. witnesses, evidence, judges, lawyers, juries... etc.

so far as i know that's how ALL justice systems pretty much work. with the exception of a few extreme cases in more extreme parts of the world.

my above example would show you as guilty in all of those...

Americans didn't come up with any of their systems. They just inherited them from the British and claimed them as their own.

except for the system of camouflage... which the british took a while getting as they ran around green fields in red coats wondering why they kept getting shot. ;-)
