After Hours Teaching

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

I wonder what marks these students got and if they passed the exam.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I may have actually gone to school if my teachers looked like that...

...on second thought, no I wouldn't have.

As much as this all sounds like a bit of a chuckle, my son and quite a few of his senior highschool classmates (male and female) were preyed upon as minors by a teacher of a similar age. When I was discussing the matter with a police detective (who I knew socially) and asked about the probably outcome of bringing charges, he said to me "in all honesty, just view it as your son getting an early start - the courts won't act on this." The woman was the performing arts teacher, had signs up in the performing arts theatre that said "what happens in performing arts STAYS in performing arts" and had an open door policy - in that if the school kids were out late and didn't want the drama of going home late, they could let themselves in her back door and climb into bed with her.

Now, imagine that same (true) story if I'd said the teacher was male.

Well, time for some political incorrectness here (but I've never given a shit about that anyway), but lots of guys would love the opportunity to bed a woman like that, regardless of their age. Fair is a myth, men and women are not the same, and in some case I don't think they should be treated the same. Now I'm not advocating for teacher student sex being okay, but to jail this lady for sex with a minor, I'm not sure I agree with that. If these boys were 12 and 13 that would be different, but a 17 year old guy getting to screw his attractive teacher? I don't know honestly, just fire her and be done with it.

We let it drop, but did make it known around the small community that we knew and weren't happy with it. At a theatre parent's night they had an improv event, and said teacher dropped on her knees provocatively in front of one of the boys in question and backed up to him, grinding away. It took her a moment to realise nobody was laughing, and another moment to realise she might have crossed a line in front of parents (who were already asking what the signs on the wall were all about) and then looked up and said "Oh, I guess this could be seen as inappropriate in any other situation." She was moved to another district shortly after that.

I just realised I was referring to the original article and not the performing arts teacher. So I was writing with the 17 year old and 25 year old in mind. Sorry if my comments were misdirected.

As for the teacher in your story, (no idea on age or anything) but I do have a serious problem with much older predators, i.e. French President and his much more senior mistress (wife) kind of situation. That's because of how impressionable youth are and how people in positions of authority who should know much better, are using that power and authority to manipulate innocent youths for their own pleasure.

It's a sticky situation of course, even regarding someone who is a few years older, but the closer the age gap the more forgivable I think the people that are involved.

Nah, from memory I think she was 22 and the kids were 17, which is exactly why we didn't push it - law aside, it came down to kids will be kids. Also why the D gave us the advice he did. To be honest, she wasn't unattractive, either.

Edit: The whole school culture was well off in that area. A colleague and I from the tertiary sector used to attend quarterly round-table events with the school principals from the region (about 20 or so) and video-conferencing was coming into it's own. For the first year of having VC on the table, my colleague just sat in stunned silence as the principals used the remotes to zoom into female participants cleavages, or if possible up skirts. The social events afterwards typically devolved into alcohol-fueled play time, so the colleague and I used to go (separately) to bed early citing "we have to drive early."

Kids will be kids sure, but adults have to adult as well.

On a different note, I really don't think it's a good idea for young women to teach high school boys. I can't ever see things ending well, unless it's a happy ending.
