The accused pigs had a fair trial, and was then distributed among police stations, for their crimes the only fitting way is the barbecue.Apparition wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 5:11 pmThey should arrest the humans next timeCEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 4:45 pm More illegal Vietnamese pigs were arrested last night
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Authorities destroy pigs infected with ASF
Eighty pigs smuggled from Vietnam and infected with African Swine Fever (ASF) were destroyed by officials from the General Department of Animal Health and Animal Production (COD) on Wednesday to protect the public from health risks in Kandeung commune, Bati distrist, Takeo province.
Burning the infected pigs was carried out after the COD intercepted smugglers in Kampong Trabek commune, Kampong Trabek district, Prey Veng province on June 12, and quarantined the animals in a COD facility to check for ASF and other diseases.
Tan Phannara, COD Director General, said traders who engage in any illegal business should avoid taking such risks for personal gain, especially smuggling pigs.
President of the Cambodian Pig Raiser Association, Srun Pov told Khmer Times that “The main issue is pig smuggling from neighbouring countries, especially Vietnam, and attempting to sell the pigs quickly, which affects public health and seriously affects local pig farmers. He said that the pig sector in Cambodia is already affected by rising production costs, but the sale price of pigs remains the same.
Pov added that the import of pigs from neighbouring countries is a daily occurrence, even though the law prohibits it, and those who engage in pig smuggling are breaking the law.
“The price of raw materials is increasing, everything is going up, but the price of pork in the country stays the same,” he said.
Srun Darapong, a pig farmer in Pursat province, once told Khmer Times: “Selling pigs depends on the selling price of the trader. If merchants say it is cheap, it’s cheap. If merchants say it is expensive, it’s expensive. He asked relevant ministries to help prevent pig smuggling from neighbouring countries to increase the price of domestic pigs and reduce the spread of diseases that affect consumers and pig farmers.

Re: Pig news
Cambodia's restrictions on imported pigs is also linked to illegal live imports from neighboring countries and the resulting spread of African Swine Fever (ASF)...
Cambodia’s Pig Raising Can Meet Domestic Demand
AKP Phnom Penh, July 20, 2022 --
Domestic pig raising can sufficiently supply the local market, therefore the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has not allowed the import of pigs since the end of 2021.
The remarks were made by H.E. Tan Sophannara, Director General of the General Directorate of Animal Health and Production, during a press conference organised by the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit on Tuesday.
“The reason for not allowing pig import is because we have enough supply for the domestic market,” he explained.
The General Directorate of Animal Health and Production is now working closely with municipal and provincial agriculture departments and competent authorities to prevent illegal import of pigs from Vietnam, he said, adding that the illegally imported live pigs may contain African swine fever.

Re: Pig news
If Cambodian pig farmers can't earn a living, then there may be pork shortages in the future. Pailin pig farmers have asked the local authorities for assistance.
Pork Prices Plummet
Cambodia News, (Pailin Province): The market price of live pigs has dropped alarmingly, causing each farmer to lose 10 million to 20 million riels due to pig farming. Pig farmers have appealed to local authorities, especially the provincial governor of the Department of Agriculture and the Pailin Provincial Department of Commerce, to find a market for them where they can earn a reasonable price to support their daily living. .. Now many people are giving up the business of raising pigs.
A 45-year-old woman named Che Chroep, who lives in Ta Nen Krom village, Stung Kach commune, Sala Krao district, Pailin province, said that she had been raising pigs for many years. Previously, live pigs could be sold for 11,000 to 12,000 riel for 1 kilo, but now the price has dropped to 7,200 riel to 7,300 riel per kilo, which makes her cry because she is unable to find the money to repay her bank loans.
And, while the market prices for pigs have dropped, the price of pig feed has recently increased.

Re: Pig news
Cambodian pig farmers are squealing for help, due to considerably lower market prices for pigs, as well as overindebtedness, and the heavy interest rates on loans.
Farmers ask for help as live pig prices plunge
28 November 2022 | 21:42 ICT
Farmers have asked the government to intervene in the pig sector, where the prices of live hogs have plummeted and an alarming number of breeders are quitting the trade as money dries up, many of them smallholders who may have gambled a bit too much trying to recoup their losses.
According to the Cambodia Livestock Raisers Association (CLRA), for this week ending December 4, the per-kilogramme rates for live hogs on the farm are highest in the Phnom Penh-Kandal and West regions, at 7,500 riel ($1.81), followed by the Southwest and Southeast (7,200 riel), Northeast (7,000 riel) and Northwest (6,800 riel).
