living rosemary plants
Re: living rosemary plants
Thats what I thought also, but where I was living the humidity would've been on par, if not worse, than PP IMO (can't be arsed looking up facts n figures). One house I was living we had a huge rosemary bush which grew all year round, as well as basil, lemongrass, and many others...we also had several kafir lime trees...I miss having a garden with fresh herbs/veges/fruits growing, can't wait to build a decent house with a big yard and finally escape city shop-house apartment living!StroppyChops wrote:Too much humidity PSD.PSD-Kiwi wrote:Rosemary grew like a weed where I was living North of Cairns, Australia, where the weather is very similar to Cambodia, so not sure why it seems so difficult to grow here?
I am now going to attempt growing rosemary when I get home...wish me luck!

Yeah, I was thinking that too - but you also would have drying out periods too, right? Rosemary likes it mean.PSD-Kiwi wrote:Where I was living the humidity would've been on par, if not worse, than PP IMO (can't be arsed looking up facts n figures). I was looking forward to a veggie garden in Cambodia too, the concrete yard makes it difficult. That, and the "yours is mine" approach.

Plant in pots with wheels so you can move them out of the heavy rain and give them shade if they need it.

Re: living rosemary plants
Thanx Beaker! I now have one rosemary plant that has taken root from a cutting - 1 out of 4 . It's still small, but I think it will make it. Exciting !

Re: living rosemary plants
By far the most enormous rosemary plant I ever saw was nose-height and about four feet wide. This was in the old European quarter in
Tripoli in Libya - a place with (surprisingly) cold and wet winters and dry hot summers but not really all that much humidity (compared to the Red Sea littoral.)

I've seen hedges of rosemary in southern Europe. It can grow really big.
As for mine, I got the cutting from overseas, but it has since died - too humid I think. RIP
