What’s the down low on what it takes to care for a cow? I have some semi-ruralish land with some extra that I plan to build on. Maybe I could put a few cows there.

It sort of depends on the land and what's growing there - is it enough to sustain a few cows all year round? If not you'd need to buy feed for them. You'd also want to make sure there aren't weeds that are toxic to cows growing there. They need a good, constant supply of water too because they drink a lot. And you'd want to have a reasonable idea of what to look for when they're sick, distressed, have footrot, or whatever.

What would you be wanting to do with them? Raise them for milk and/or beef? Just have them as pets?

Or maybe plant rice,
or plant banana trees,
or plant mango trees
or build a hotel / casino,

So many choices.
