Herb gardens

Post by Anchor Moy »

Do you grow your own herbs? What works and what seems to die off no matter what ?
Anyone got a herb garden growing on their balcony or window boxes ?

I have just got some seeds to plant in a pot or box, and i'm wondering how the climate will affect them, so any info is welcome - parsley, coriander, european basil and chives. Do they grow all year round in Cambodia ? When do they go to seed?
Also, has anyone tried to grow (french)tarragon ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarragon

No, my father-in-law does that for me. I just wish he'd pull out the males.

We currently have the following herbs growing on our terrace, they seem to grow all year round;

Coriander, thai basil, chives, parsley, lemon grass, sage, fennel, plus some local herbs which I can't recall the names of. I didn't plant any of them from seed though.

I have tried growing rosemary, and it was doing well, but after coming back after 2 months away at work it had died off unfortunately.

[EDIT] I forgot to mention, we are also growing mint.

I plant a flower( it's more than 2 years old now) , aloe vera and this one.

I grow them for medicine.

And others are my mum's plants and my sister's flower.

We don't do anything much, just water them every early morning and night. And we often put the bat's shit in the pot after digging the soil.

I've looked after this flower for two years. The seller told us that it was from Thailand. There were some white insects and ants in it, but I changed the soil and sprayed a little shampoo on it. Incredible it's still alive. I think growing the herb is easier than flowers.

Orchids only bloom once. After that, they need to grow a new tuber to flower again.

Old tubers will not re-flower.

Understood - getting new korms, but they're not blooming. I'm hoping for bloomin' korms mate.

I had some early success but nothing new in the past year - growth, new korms that spear, then nada.

Given that sentence structure I suspect you're dabbling in herbs of your own just now...
