Grow and eat your own greens

Post by Duncan »

Climbing spinach , don't know what the Cambodians call it, but it is easy to grow. I threw some old cow dung and some dirt in large pots , sat them in alu dishes that hold lots of water, [ they need it ] and wow, they don't know how to stop growing. I've had quite a few pickings from these plant already.
The seeds from the packet of seed I bought back from Australia grow better than the ones from Vietnam.

I'd never heard of it before nor has my Cambodian wife. Does anybody here know the Cambodian name. Also is the taste similar to spinach?

This is amazing and wonderful news

My baby jackfruit are reaching for the sky and my baby mangoes and salak and kapok are rampant and howling to be taken to Kulen
BUT this I never ever even heard of

Will the OP run some in from Vietnam?

I'd grow some lovely and good-quality Mary Jane if I weren't justifiably apphrensive of Plod and the county jail

Hey,, I forgot to mention. You can dry this climbing spinach and smoke it. You will get a better buzz than Mary j ,,, also the seeds are only $10 each.

Weeds, in that context is a plant we haven't found a use for. Can't eat it? Feed it to the pigs.

I have eaten that. My gf's mother ( I call her Annie now) brought numerous wild grown edibles picked along side of roads & fence lines. Some more tasty than others but mother was impressed I was willing to try all.
