You've been many times to Pattaya. What do you really think about the place?

Good choice! People from around Da nang are known for being very friendly & honest.Cowshed Cowboy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 09, 2018 8:31 am
Where did you go Jamie ? My rough plan is 3-4 weeks going to Hoi An, Hue and then up to Hanoi, think that gives me a nice mix of places for a first look.

yeah my visit was only brief spell in HCMC to get a feel for the place really, not a judgement of the whole country i will likely visit again to some other places for sureCowshed Cowboy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 09, 2018 8:31 amWhere did you go Jamie ? Maybe I'll find that I've been missing out on something living in Pattaya.

I live 2 hours southeast of HCMC. Don't forget the south. Most visitors find southerners pretty friendly compared to northerners. However, that said, I've heard good reports from friends who visited Hanoi. Really liked it. It's been too long since I was there but liked it a lot back then, about 10 years ago.Yobbo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 09, 2018 12:39 pmGood choice! Da Nang, a big city, and Hoi An and Hue are very touristy. I've heard the Chinese and Russians have overrun Da Nang, as well as Nha Trang beach, farther south. Nearby Nha Trang though is the beautiful, old city of Dalat at a higher elevation.
I am in Vung Tau, although I'm writing this from Pattaya, in transit to the far side of the planet. VT is an oil and gas port that's been transitioning to a weekend centre and seaside city. It's small, about half a million population, but has many quality western and Viet bars and restaurants. Loads of Aussies! It is quiet, but has lovely tree lined streets, many well designed parks, supermarkets -- it's a real weekend magnet for Saigonese and locals from nearby towns and provinces. Constant ocean breezes, low magnitude storms (not like Central Highlands), lower temps but rather humid.
It's a two-hour boat ride or VIP shuttle bus from Saigon.

Thanks for the feedback guys, appreciated.
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.

I really like Pattaya and go usually once every 1-2 months for a week to 10 days.
I mostly go to play golf on the great courses with a friendly golf society. I also have quite a few good friends there I have known for ages.
The food is good and cheap (better and cheaper than Cambodia) and there is plenty of entertainment.
If I did not have so much invested and a girlfriend in Cambodia, I would live there in preference to Cambodia, especially since my home of Sihanoukville is no longer.

I guess you must be living in some luxury place away from Soi Bukhao or something?LaudJohn wrote: ↑Tue Oct 09, 2018 4:21 pm I really like Pattaya and go usually once every 1-2 months for a week to 10 days.
