Yingluck verdict today POSTPONED she did a runner

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Yingluck verdict today POSTPONED she did a runner

Post by phuketrichard »

after an 18 month court its almost over,
she has been charged with mismanagement and negligence over a rice subsidy scheme which was very popular with the Northeastern's but cost the goverment billions of $$

It can go down one of three ways'
1.Guilty and up to 10 years in jail and a fine (token 2,000-200,000 baht)
2. Guilty and given a suspended sentence
3. Innocent

If found guilty she will be banned from any political office as well ( no big deal, her brother just gets another family member to be his puppet)

I vote for# 2, Guilty and given a suspended sentence :beer3:

verdict should be in by noon

YIKES
she has NOT shown up for court and the court has issued a warrant for her arrest
she took after her brother and fucked off it seems
court date changed to Sept 27th!!!
Her lawyers told the court at 9:37 am that Yingluck is not well with the Ménière disease or disorder of the inner ear so she cannot come to the court. But the court does not believe the claim as it is not backed by a medical certificate. The court ordered the seizure of the bail guarantee of Bt30 million.
:please: :please:

Al Jazeera, ; court does not think she is sick and has fled

Yes you forgot to mention the obvious 4th scenario which is always the favoured option for the Thai rich facing the remote outside possibility of jail time. What a joke, as if the authorities weren't tracking her movements when they've been so busy beefing up security ahead of the the verdict. Best outcome for the military dictatorship if she has indeed gone into exile, the official end of the Shinawatras if true. Contrast Thailand with South Korea where the head of Samsung is due in court also today for corruption/government bribe scandal, of course he will actually appear and face justice as he has quite rightly been held in detention pending a verdict.

Sadly Thailand will never progress when the elite never go to jail for their crimes. Same old, same old system regardless of which bunch of crooks is in charge.
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.

Punishing politicians for poor decision making is the thin end of the wedge that would see all politicians in jail. It is not democratic but Stalinist.

It does not matter what happens because whatever happens, military repression or mob rule-style "democrazy", the kingdom of Thailand is a failed state without a future. Neither side is capable of managing a kindergarten, much less a modern nation state, sort of like the situation in the USA. Clowns to the left of me, jokers to right (Gerry Rafferty and Joe Egan - Stealers Wheel)

The steady decline and eventual collapse of Thailand is guaranteed.

I suppose the only interesting question at this point is, where is she? At home? Still in Thailand? In a temple somewhere? (doesn't work so well for women)? In Laos? In Dubai? Shopping at Siam Paragon?

That's got to be for a connecting flight to somewhere else. Would Singapore harbor a fugitive?

Or, is this a red herring to throw off the authorities?

Maybe she's gonna jump on a speedboat and cruise to a remote island?

So she's run away from her frozen bank accounts. Stupid woman should have had it all in Bitcoins. :stir:

Guilty or not, these people are rich enough to jump ship.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
