The problem I'm seeing in Thailand now is that a large amount of marijuana in the dispensaries/coffeeshops is PGR weed

That means they're using Plant Growth Regulator chemicals when growing their crops which can possibly cause cancer and injects synthetic hormones into the plant. The reason they use PGRs when growing marijuana is to make it look visually appealing and a bigger yield. You go into the dispensary, look at the bud under the microscope and light and it looks amazing, but it only looks amazing re: THC crystals, it's just smoke and mirrors. It's unscrupulous.

PGR cannabis has harder, denser, and heavier buds.

PGR cannabis leaves contain fewer crystals than natural cannabis leaves.

PGR cannabis may feel wet or spongey, while natural cannabis has a drier texture

The flavour and high is lacking, severely. I'm not saying the whole of Thailand is like this, but if you're a serious cannabis consumer or tourist, then I suggest you do due diligence and do some homework; find out the more reputable dispensaries online and educate yourself on the difference between the shitty, weak PGR marijuana they sell a lot of in Thailand and regular, stronger, tastier marijuana that can be found

I've been consuming THC for only a mere quarter of a century, so I only know a little bit, but what I do know is Thai weed is 50% shit at best. The amount I've consumed today, I should be comatose, but I'm far from it. The edibles are also not what they've written on the label. If it says 100mg, it's definitely 50mg

It's just dudes adding paclobutrazol or something similar when watering their plants that can be bought from lazada or the local nursery probably

I've seen and know enough to know those tiny, denser, compact buds are grown with some kind of PGR, be it Chlormequat Chloride, Daminozide, or the most common I've personally seen; Paclobutazol

A couple of long-time growers and breeders I know from other countries agree with me too from the evidence they've seen

Start wandering in those dispensaries and you'll notice how a fair few of their selection of buds look like what I posted above

Good points. Buds that present well but can't deliver shouldn't demand such a premium.
All those sexy terpenes and crystals are nice but are no substitute for performance and reliability. It doesn't have to be one or the other.
There are usually some jars of "outdoor" buds around, so I like to poke around for those hoping for more natural flower. It's a treasure hunt.
For edibles, I've had better luck at non-dispensary places like bakeries and coffee shops that I wouldn't have expected.
