17 year old marries

In Cambodian law, the rules regulating those who can marry fail to protect both women and men as intended. Cambodian law forbids child marriages, setting the minimum age for marriage at 18.[5] Exceptionally, a person can marry at the age of 16.[6] However, in conformity with cultural and indigenous traditions, Cambodian girls marry young. According to 2014 UNICEF statistics, 2% of girls are married by the age of 15, and 18% by the age of 18.[7] It therefore seems clear that the law is not properly enforced. https://cambodialpj.org/article/legal-an ... -cambodia/

Just had a wedding in our village where the bride was(still is 15). Village grapevine has it an agreement was reached with the local constabulary.

Seems just yesterday here that getting married at 16 or 17 was the norm among wide swathes of society, and today it's trafficking, slavery and pedophilia all rolled up into one ball.

Still, a 70 year old? Yikes. That's wierd.
