Happy marriage while the money was rolling in, built a lovely house in the wife’s village and splashed the cash. Reading between the lines, now separated presumably lack of cash inflow related, stuck up there with limited social life and contact. Every travel football post as a group of us move round the country enjoying ourselves gets a sarkey comment, but the beauty of Facebook is you get notified and I just delete the comment which I know winds him up even more, the lack of attention. Easy to beat the negativity
thiavisa /fb is full of older expats "stuck" up country...
cant imagine having to live anywhere based on ur financial resources or lack of

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

I may be wrong but my impression of this forum is that the guys in Cambodia who have settled with families out in the provinces are much more culturally attuned and content than those in Thailand, I’d go as far to say that the guys I Thailand who move back to the wife or girlfriends village might be the least equipped to do so. I base my observations here on the guys I come across who have taken that’s path. Generalising maybe but each to their own and I wouldn’t wish the worst on anybody.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 6:25 pmCowshed Cowboy wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 6:03 pm Agree with you PR, I’ve got my very own troll on Facebook, a colleague I used to work with who now lives upcountry Thailand, has been unemployed several years having earnt big money in IT. Wow, UT took richard's side, ignoring his attack on yong. That never happened before.Username Taken wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 8:08 pm The irony!!!!!!
The 2 posters who most troll each other are into each other already.
Why can't you guys just put each other on ignore.
@ geinus, you baited him. So, please answer the question, "why do expats troll each other?" Adrenaline rush or something?

@ lance-corporal flaccid: I suppose it's better than selectively bitching about bad/drunken drivers killing innocent people.
Learned a new catch-word at PUC, in between chasing imaginary polystyrene balls after a late-night party, did we?

I didn't ask the question. Perhaps you missed that.Username Taken wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 7:14 pm You didn't answer the question, "why do expats troll each other?"
I'm also not sure if it was intended for me.
Perhaps, if it were, the poster should have had the honesty to say so?
It was asked by someone who commented about people bitching about photography in the post, when he himself, in his own words, admitted that he had lost earnings because people were using mobile phones to take pictures with.
Now excuse me if i make a rational deduction, but generally people who lose money are angry at those that cause their loss.
Logical enough so far?
Now, lets progress to step 2:
1. richard lost money: he told us that, and blamed it on mobile phone cameras
2. yong posted great photos, and richard had a not-so-subtle go at him (I suggest you read the thread)
3. I suggested he leave yong be, it's a great thread, and I think richard is pissed off because yong's photos are better than any of his
4. Shortly thereafter, richard starts this thread...and you support him
Can you see a logical progression? I can simplify it if need be, but it may take time.
re : your original question wrt why troll, you're the expert, you tell us.
Maybe bro richard can do some research for you.

I don't know about facebook but thaivisa seems to be full of people in tourist resorts who have just transferred their boring life in their home country to what they expected would be a perfect paradise but is just the same boring life but hotter. They don't seem to be able to cope with basic tasks like how to book a plane ticket online.
Some guys who meet women in tourist towns and go back to the woman's hometown can't function there. But some places especially in the north have lots of foreigners who have a great life with a happy home life. These guys all speak Thai, mix with Thais, eat Thai food and have some project on going for example a small farm. They tend to stick to themselves or to others they have know for a while .

Re: Why do Expats Troll each other in Thailand?
The worst types are those that think that because they have been in any area/country for any length of time longer than another, they know better.
Ignore them, they believed their puerile wannabeism when they arrived, and they will go to the grave believing no one else truly understands locals like they do.
I have no idea, after almost 20 years in SE Asia, what locals think, or why they do the things they do. I have no qualms in admitting it, nor do I think any balanced person should.
I accept it, and move on.
But I like locals in spite of what would be considered zany, they are incredibly friendly and open in many ways. Be wary of barang know-it-alls that claim to understand.
Insecurity is a huge part of their problem.

Its the "im the only farang in the village" mentality is what ruins it for them.that genius wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 5:51 pmLOL, sounds familiar.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 5:33 pmOn a food review site I see attacks against peoples nationality, appearance and even quality of photos of the foods.
