Fair enough for May, but you raised me for August. I thought 75% was pretty optimistic.
Do you think BKK might permit transit first and then tourists? Or do transits just represent work and risk for the Thai authorities without the benefit of the income of normal tourists?
As soon as BKK opens up for transit the BKK-PNH route will surely follow quickly as soon as Cambodia relaxes it's requirements.
Thoughts?

I just checked Thai Airways, LHR-BKK which is on the list of arrivals for today.theKid wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 3:17 pmHow do you explain this then? All cargo?phuketrichard wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 3:10 pmfixed it for ya

They are not accepting bookings for May or June, but are accepting booking from July onwards. So maybe it is cargo.
Re: When To Book Flights To Thailand?
My guess is the trip Europe - Hong Kong - China - Phnom Penh would take you at least a month.theKid wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 2:32 pm Actually there are flights currently available. The problem is the mandatory quarantine requirements that screw everything up.
There are daily flights from London, vancouver, Chicago, Amsterdam, Frankfurt etc to HK. You could go then from HK to a Chinese airport (several flightsavailable) and from there to PP. Or fly over Jakarta as it seems there are still flights landing in PP from CGK occasionally.
For some reason HK also received arrivals from Bangkok and has flights listed as well : https://www.hongkongairport.com/en/flig ... enger.page
You’d still can’t get a visa though if you are from any of the listed countries and in any case you’d have to go through the quarantine.
Two weeks quarantine in Hong Kong
Two weeks quarantine in China
And then two weeks in Cambodia (assuming it's enforced).
Re: When To Book Flights To Thailand?
For instance, there's a flight from Amsterdam, I know for sure there are no passengers on that flight. It will be a passenger flight used for (diplomatic) post and cargo only, and maybe to repatriate the occasional tourist still stuck in Thailand.theKid wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 3:17 pmHow do you explain this then? Thailand needs to be open so many can get back to work
There have been 54 deaths( 7 in last 2 weeks) and less than 3,000 infected and only 45 in the past week
from what I read they are expecting Chinese to start arriving late june/early july
I dont think they will open for transit (why?) without opening for arrivals
.....biggest unknown is if they will expect arrivals to posses insurance and a covid free certificate or fit to fly
PLUS if they require you self quarantine... no tourists will come
I expect once thailand gives the go ahead word
so will Laos, Cambodia, Burma, Malaysia

Yes, I know. I'm 'stuck' in Cambodia, and while it's not that bad, I tend to leave Cambodia for a week or so every month / six weeks. Haven't been out since March now, and it's starting to hurt my piece of mind.

The airports are now permitted to operate these special international flights from 7am to 7pm, which are the same hours for the limited domestic services that restarted last Friday.
Anyone arriving in to Thailand from overseas will be subject to health checks and 14 days of state quarantine. State or military aircraft, emergency landings, humanitarian aid, medical and relief flights, repatriation flights and cargo flights are still allowed to land in Thailand.

EE I think my insurance from work will cover for COVID19. I am not planning on adding travel insurance. Hopefully, by Dec this will go away.Electric Earth wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 2:58 amDoes it cover you for Covid? Insurance companies make their money on not having to cover people, and from what I've read, most of them are denying coverage for Covid based on it being a pandemic. Why that should matter, I don't know, but that's what I've read.
