What happened to ThaiVisa.com?

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

This sort of change to the product is usually the result of one of the following (possibly both)

1. A new owner, with fingers in many pies, and without any emotional attachment to the existing product
2. An awfully steep revenue decline

They've spread themselves incredibly thin.

Trying to be everything to everyone is fraught with danger...

Probably won't lose it's Thai enthusiast/Thai expat base, but it won't gain many subscribers/users from anywhere else.
re No. 2. I believe there's been a plunge in the participation rate at TV. No motivation to keep up if you're stuck in the home country or no motivation because there's almost no activity to chat about online. Threads die out within hours of first posts.

I also believe the toxic atmosphere created by a core of malicious combatants, i.e., trolls, discourages many from even logging in or perusing the threads. I don't think it has anything to do with the "asshole" mods. TV bosses let the super trolls run rampant, largely because it got them a few more clicks. Good threads start out and then get murdered by a ping pong game of petty, juvenile, cliche, ignorant and whining exchanges.

The steep decline has gone on since before the last new owner of the Thaivisa operation.

I agree, there will be few if any capture of new subscribers. Thaivisa's Cambodia and Vietnam sub-forums only got minuscule participation.

The Medical and Immigration forums are still the best things they have.
