Vice prices to skyrocket in LOS
According to Sanook, there are plans for massive price increases on sinful pursuits ie. more taxes on cigarettes, alcohol, playing cards and soapy massages...

BANGKOK: -- The Thai press - seeking clarification of new excise regulations - have reported that the cost of smoking and massage is to rise.
Sanook.com reported that the cost of lighting up is likely to increase by as much as five baht per cigarette.
Excise charges on bathing at massage parlors is set to go up by 1,000 baht a time.
Chief of the excise department Somchai Phoonsawat was trying to explain what the new ceilings previously announced meant as he accepted there was some confusion from the public.
But after his explanations there was still those who were perplexed by what it all meant. Exactly how the new arrangements would impact the costs to the public were still shrouded in jargon.
The changes to the excise gathering arrangements have been announced in the Royal Gazette and will become law or begin to become law after a 180 day period has passed.
The new laws will also have an effect on alcohol prices and the prices of playing cards.

What is a "soapy massage" ? Why is this massage targeted for a hefty price increase ?
And why are the prices regulated by the government anyway ? Tax on soap ?

A soapy massage is when the girl gets in the tub with you and washes you by sliding over your body. She's free to use any part of her body to achieve the goal.Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2017 10:37 pm What is a "soapy massage" ? Why is this massage targeted for a hefty price increase ?

There are dozens of these places around Bangkok and the rest of Thailand. Mostly for Thai customers, who make up the bulk of sex services.

Are there any places in Cambodia [ PP ] that do soapy's or does the price of soap prohibit such things.

No mention of soap smuggling.
Illegal booze and cigarettes “flooding across borders” in wake of proposed tax increases
Sources have said that the cross border trade in illegal spirits and cigarettes is increasing after the announcement of changes in the way tax is calculated.
Sanook.com reported that there are more buyers than ever for whisky and cigarettes being sold that has not been subject to proper excise tax.
Much of the spirits are fake products but they said that people buying up the supplies don’t care – they are only concerned that the products are 20 to 30% cheaper than the real thing.
They quoted a source that said smugglers were doing a roaring trade since the tax announcements that are to begin to take effect within the next six months or so.

Re: Vice prices to skyrocket in LOS
The Thailand No-Fun Police are on the job big-time. [Just a year or two ago I would have thought this was an April Fool story, but now anything is possible.]
Plans are afoot to limit alcohol sales to accredited state stores where you will have to show your passport or ID when you purchase your bottles. Thais and expats will only be able to buy alcohol from the outlet designated by their place of residence. They are hoping to eventually expand this system to include drugs like viagra. The new system is due to kick off on 1 October 2017. together with the increased tax rates on alcohol.
Thailand to implement Alcohol sale stores following Scandinavian concept.
2 April 2017
Since many outlets ignore the sale ban between midnight-11am and 2pm-5pm the government is starting state funded alcohol outlets.
In a raft of measures in line with the government’s desire to reduce alcohol related crime and health issues spokeswoman Praewphan Ponhpaiboon announced at a press briefing that the government will implement an alcohol sales policy similar to the Swedish “System Bolaget” wherein alcohol is only sold in designated stores.
All alcohol sale will forbidden in other stores. There will be one outlet in every Ampur, so none have to worry about access to alcohol.
She went on to say that citizens will only be able to use the store located in the Ampur where they are registered on a tabien baan, foreigners will need to provide their passport along with their latest immigration address report and are again only permitted to use the store in their registered area.
There will be heavy penalties for those buying in bulk in order to re-sell on the black-market and limits will be set on the maximum single purchase although she did not elaborate on the potential sales limit.
She also stated that the system could be expanded in future to cover other potentially harmful substances such as ED drugs like Viagra and its generic equivalents.
Tenders are being invited from potential store operating companies who will be expected to implement the system in time for it to begin at the same time as the new exercise taxes on alcohol starts Oct 1st.
