Two army units now under direct control of Thai King

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

ACTIVIST ARRESTED, ACCUSED OF MAKING THREATS TO MONARCHY

GOV’T SAYS ‘5 MORE PEOPLE’ MAY BE NABBED FOR ROYAL INSULT

"Police earlier today announced they arrested Karn at his home and later charged him with cybercrime for a comment he wrote on his public Facebook account.

In the Oct. 2 post, which he has since deleted, Karn made references to the gruesome fates of past European monarchies, though he did not explicitly mention the Thai Royal Family."

So mentioning what happened to someone else and allowing you to draw inference is enough to get you put away. Best not ask for king-sized cigarettes either if you know what is good for you. Today the Thai government made it clear that shops that have wifi must keep records of their customers' internet activity for 90 days.

Or mention drug or mafia king-pins. :dragonchase:

From article linked above "Thai King’s Absolute Reign":
“It is a dire situation and the growing fear among people in the know is palpable,” a well-placed source said. “Informed observers are all saying that Thailand is heading for very dark days ahead.”
But, don't worry. I've heard that these changes don't affect the foreigners living there. :good:

they're not very big regiments. I'd wager a 1,000 able-bodied men - tops.

Lots of rumours floating about today , here from A Marshall....
King Vajiralongkorn’s latest trip to Thailand is going badly wrong for the palace.

The royal barge procession was mysteriously postponed, with serial liar Wissanu Krea-ngam telling a fake story about the reasons.

Now Bangkok is abuzz with rumours that the king’s main mistress, Noble Consort Koi, has done something wrong and is being punished.

Meanwhile, Bangkok Post journalist Wassana Nanuam, who has good military contacts, says there will be a major announcement soon, which has sparked even more gossip and rumours. This was poor journalism by Wassana, there is no value in making vague statements, she should explain what she was talking about rather than just deleting her post.

The next few days will be interesting, to see if there are any more sightings of Koi, and to discover if there really will be a big announcement.
