To keep moderator Anchor Moy happy and the Chinese thread pure. I am replying to PR in a new thread in the Thailand section.

Richard, your love for Phuket is admirable and your defense of it applauded even if you are wearing your rose tinted glasses.

If you have been in Phuket as long as you say, you will have seen it turn from the jewel of the Andaman into the cess pit of the Andaman. Pollution has risen beyond anyone's wildest expectation and corruption in various building projects increased exponentially. Your problem is probably that as you have lived there so long, you have not noticed the changes.

I honestly do not care how many negative Karmas you give me each time I have the audacity to post something you do not agree with, what I post is fact not fiction.

I have seen the sewage pipes discharging into the lagoons and beaches along the west coast first hand. The internet is full of reports on sewage and waste water dumping.

I think that this picture sums it up very nicely (in a dirty way). I remember swimming off Surin beach in the 80s when there was not a single hotel or large building there. It was pristine. Now it is a total mess.

The fact one needs to open a thread to address negative karma also subconciously addresses another issue.

That being that expats simply have too much time on there hands and have nothing better to do.

I gave you 1 negative for stating toilets feed directly into the sea which they dont nor every have,
yet u keep harping on it. Get over urself

Yep, I have seen and noted ALL changes here, some for the good, some not so ...but still a great place to live, raise a family or retire to.
You dont need be in Patong
and BTW never owned a pair of rose tinted glasses...

PS: corruption, not only in Phuket but the whole country, is worse now than when Thaksin was in Power and this is coming from the thais.

we do agree on one thing;

it wont ever look like this again; But than, nowhere i have been since i started traveling will ever look the same after xx years
