The pad of blank tickets seems full. I don't think he knows how to write a ticket.StroppyChops wrote:^ so the indicator that the Thai cop is open to persuasion is that he can't seem to find a blank fine form...
Re: The "Big Event"
Don't be distracted by the trivial sideshow (keystone cops vs hapless tourists).
Try to focus on the big picture for once, which now includes threats of a counter coup.
Things could get a whole lot more sanook for those still stuck in Amazing Thailand.
Army commander-in-chief Gen Udomdej Sitabutr brushed aside former Prime Minister and Army chief Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyuth's warning that the military installed government might face counter coup if it continues its aggressive political reforms.

I may be going to hell in a bucket,
but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Re: The "Big Event"
both sides seem to be trying to be more traditional than the other.
the cops are on the side that has all the money right?
per SOP?

Well, neither side has ALL the money, but both sides have plenty.the cops are on the side that has all the money right?
Mostly likely the police would split along regional and/or color lines, as would most everybody else. A few might be willing to switch sides if given a good enough reason.

Difficult and uncertain political times for Thailand ahead, no question. Will be interesting to see what happens with the Baht, which is still relatively strong of late. I wouldn't want to be a new expat condo owner or have much money in a Thai bank Baht account if the shit gets real nasty. Such chaotic times will be a hoot for the old-style chancers and mongers brigade there, though. Just like the good ol' days.

Re: The "Big Event"
so bangkok vs the bush?
Re: The "Big Event"
I'm thinking when the King passes the provinces will be all but shut down with nothing to do. Best bet would seem to be in Bangkok or Pattaya, where the crowds of foreigners afford some anonymity and if you are going to be in a total martial law lock-down situation you may as well do it in comfort. The South might be an interesting place to observe the ongoings too. Less adoration of the Royals there, one would think.frank lee bent wrote:so bangkok vs the bush?

Re: The "Big Event"
well, a look at Kayak shows me I can fly into Singapore and then to PP for a couple hundred less than it costs me to fly into Bkk. I won't be making a trip until next fall anyway so we'll see

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't announced for a month after B passes, if he hasn't already. Where was he on his birthday on the 5th ?

I thought everyone outside Thailand knew more thna us living here LOL
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
