Thais and Chinese to travel visa-free, starting March 1

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Thais and Chinese to travel visa-free, starting March 1

Post by phuketrichard »

so this is one way to get the chinese back ( save them a few $$)
will Cambodia follow or will the chinese still be to scared to visit, for fear of being kidnapped and placed in scam center or having their kidneys removed??

Up to now, here in Phuket, they are notably absent as compared to pre covid
Starting from March 1, Thais and Chinese traveling to each country will no longer need a visa, as part of the latest agreement between both governments, said Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin today.

“The new privilege marks an upgrading to the mutual relationship,” Srettha said. Authorities concerned will be informed to prepare for the new regulations to facilitate travel, he said.

Previously, Thailand waived the tourist visa requirement for Chinese tourists as part of efforts to boost tourism to Thailand among Chinese visitors. However, this privilege is set to end after February.

Was just up in Chiang Mai and there's no shortage of Chinese up there.

Plenty of Chinese milling about in Bangkok. I don't really have any issues with them, they're not annoying in any way.

I was driving in CM last year. Stopped at a big junction near the river with 2 lanes for turning right. Chinese driver in the most right lane took off when the light changed and headed confidently up the wrong side of the road. Loads of cops there and boy did they jump on him.
Sorry for off topic!

I went into Lucky at Sorya Mall a couple of week ago, about 10am, and the place was nearly empty. Nobody paying, nobody milling about. I wonder how these shops are doing after their target market has disappeared in huge numbers?

They made a few odd decisions like pricing everything in KHR and now they barely have descriptions in English on the price labels, nor the receipts come to think of it. The seem to have set out to be unfriendly to English-only speakers and now their target customer base has deserted them.

Super Duper must be very happy.
