Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

It's all a sick joke. Sure, there are some people who are desperate enough to do almost anything to get back to Thailand, but not nearly in the numbers they've dreamed up - as long as it's such a complicated, costly and time-consuming process. How they will ever be able to fill a charter flight with enough tourists from any given place under those conditions remains a mystery!

that also potentially answers my earlier question about the next in line to the throne.

Looser quarantine eyed
THAILAND: The Ministry of Public Health has proposed a new type of Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) that will allow short-term visitors to travel to designated areas during their 14-quarantine period in some selected provinces.

Foreign visitors must accept travel routes set by the provinces and must not veer off course. Most importantly, they must come from countries with low COVID-19 risk and no local infections for three months, Dr Thares said.
Lets out most of the western world lol

The latest report says that in fact NOT ONE single Chinese in Guangzhou applied for an STV to go to Phuket.
Some 120 Chinese were supposed to have been arriving in Phuket last Thursday until an eleventh hour reason - the Vegetarian Festival - was given for the delay by the head of Thailand's security council.

The charter flight was virtually taxiing on the runway, it was claimed.

But now it has been revealed that the TAT had only supplied a list of names of those interested in coming to Thailand as part of the Special Tourist Visa (STV).

The onerous regulations that potential visitors must follow has led to the scheme being ridiculed online.

Foreign ministry spokesman Natthaphanu Noppakhun told the Thai media that NOT ONE Chinese person in Guangzhou had actually applied for an STV at the consulate there.

Lol, can you believe it. Why on earth would they put on that charade. Imagine if you were a Phuket hotelier trying to plan reopening your business based on the information coming out from these authorities.

I have a idea, sounds radical but hear me out,
what about a 30 day visa exemption on arrival, or a 60 day visa that can be extended once for another 30 days!!, no fucking about trying to get a test before arrival at great expense for the whole family, a hotel of your own choice, no testing at arrival by people off the set of the andromedia strain, and no quarantine, sounds strange yeh, just like the thousands that entered between December and March from all over the world, including Wuhan.
just an idea!!!!!

In that context it makes the pretend arrival of 150 overseas visitors seem even more bizarre.

so NOT cancelled, only postponed as i stated above

and now this Out

It looks like some embassies are now issuing 60-day single entry tourist visas again. Only 40 Euros. Please note, not for every country and you still have to do quarantine and hold $100,000 health insurance.

and you have to show 15.000 Euro in a european bank-account for at least 6 months,
and:
you have to accept a thai-medical officer who is accompaning you on your journeys......
and:
WTF else u want?

The Bangkok Post has become a sad source for humor with one insane announcement after another for getting the despised farangs to return with their money. The comments are more amusing than the articles. I hope it doesn't happen, it won't take long for the newly admitted presumed leppers to be confused with those of us that have not been out of the country in over the year and are presently not accused of being a source of contamination any more than before COVID.
